Today’s Scripture

John 1:38–39 (ESV)

“Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, ‘What are you seeking?’ And they said to him, ‘Rabbi’ (which means Teacher), ‘where are you staying?’ He said to them, ‘Come and you will see.’ So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day…”

Opening the Scriptures

The first recorded words of Jesus in John’s Gospel are not a sermon or a command. They are a question: “What are you seeking?”

It is a question that reaches every human heart. People seek many things—success, happiness, security, acceptance, or purpose. Yet none of these can truly satisfy apart from Christ.

When the two disciples expressed their desire to be with Him, Jesus responded with a simple invitation: “Come and you will see.” He did not merely offer information about Himself; He invited them into a relationship with Him. They accepted His invitation, spent time in His presence, and their lives were changed forever.

The same invitation still stands today. Jesus calls people not merely to admire Him from a distance but to follow Him as Lord and Savior. True discipleship begins by coming to Christ and continues by walking with Him every day.

Living God’s Word Today

Ask yourself honestly, “What am I truly seeking?”

If your heart is seeking Christ above all else, you will discover that He alone satisfies the deepest needs of your soul. Spend time with Him today through prayer and the reading of His Word. Listen carefully to His voice, obey His teaching, and trust His promises.

The more time we spend with Jesus, the more we become like Him. His presence transforms our thinking, strengthens our faith, and fills our hearts with peace.

Today, accept His invitation once again:

“Come and you will see.”

May you know Christ more deeply, trust Him more fully, and glorify Him more faithfully today than yesterday.
