When the Spirit Speaks Through You
Matthew 10:20 AMP
"For it is not you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you."
There are moments in life when we feel completely inadequate. We wonder if we have the right words to comfort a hurting friend, defend our faith, or encourage someone who is struggling. Fear whispers that we are not eloquent enough, knowledgeable enough, or brave enough.
Jesus knew His disciples would face those very fears. As He prepared them to go into a hostile world, He gave them an incredible promise: they would not stand alone. When the time came, the Holy Spirit would speak through them. Their confidence would not come from their own wisdom but from God's presence within them.
This promise still brings comfort today. While we should prepare, study God's Word, and grow in wisdom, we are never expected to rely solely on ourselves. The Holy Spirit equips ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things for God's kingdom. He gives courage when we are afraid, wisdom when we are uncertain, and words when we don't know what to say.
Perhaps you're facing a difficult conversation today—a chance to share your faith, encourage a loved one, or stand for what is right. Instead of relying on your own strength, pause and pray. Invite the Holy Spirit to lead your thoughts and your words. Trust that God is already at work before you even begin to speak.
The same Spirit who empowered the disciples lives in every believer. You don't have to have all the answers. You simply need to be available and obedient.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You that I never have to face life's challenges alone. Thank You for giving me Your Holy Spirit to guide, strengthen, and speak through me. Help me to trust You instead of relying on my own ability. Fill my heart with courage and my mouth with words that bring truth, hope, and love. May everything I say reflect Your heart and glorify Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.
