The Privilege of Being God's Child
John 1:12 AMP): "But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name."
There is no greater identity than being called a child of God. John 1:12 reminds us that this relationship is not earned through good works, religious traditions, or personal achievements. It is a gift given to everyone who receives Jesus Christ and places their trust in Him.
The Amplified Bible highlights three beautiful words: right, authority, and privilege. When we believe in Jesus, God welcomes us into His family. We are no longer strangers, orphans, or outsiders—we belong to Him. Our past no longer defines us; our Heavenly Father does.
Being God's child also means we have access to His love, guidance, forgiveness, and promises. In times of fear, we can remember that our Father is with us. In moments of weakness, we can depend on His strength. When we feel rejected by the world, we can rest in the assurance that we are fully accepted by Him.
Today, take a moment to thank God for adopting you into His family through Christ. Walk confidently, not because of who you are on your own, but because of whose you are. Let your life reflect the love, grace, and character of your Heavenly Father.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible gift of becoming Your child through faith in Jesus Christ. Thank You for loving me, accepting me, and giving me a new identity. Help me to live each day with confidence in Your love and to reflect Your light to those around me. Strengthen my faith and remind me that I will always belong to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
