```TEXT: ROMANS 6:3-7```
```KEY VERSE:``` "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin" (ROMANS 6:6).
Romans 6 takes us deeper into Calvary. We love to say βHe was crucified for me,β but Paul says more β βour old man is crucified with him.β At Calvary there were not two crosses only; you were there. Your old man, your sinful nature, your Adam-life was nailed there too. God did not just forgive you; He ended you, to make you new. That is why baptism matters β it is your funeral and your resurrection.
Three truths from being crucified with Him: One, the old man died at Calvary. βOur old man is crucified with him.β Not reformed, not suppressed, but crucified. The man you used to be β ruled by anger, lust, fear β died when Christ died. Two, sinβs body lost its power. βThat the body of sin might be destroyed.β Destroyed here means made powerless, unemployed. Sin is still present, but its dominion is broken. The master that used to command you has lost his keys. Three, we are no longer slaves. βThat henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.β A dead man cannot be a slave. You are dead to sin at Calvary and alive to God.
Are you still serving a master that died on Friday? Still answering calls from a grave? Today, reckon what God already reckoned β you are dead to sin because you died with Christ, and alive to God. Stand in that truth. The Cross not only saved you, it changed you.
Prayer
Father, thank You that my old man was crucified with Christ. I am no longer who I was. I break agreement today with every sin that still seeks to rule me. I reckon myself dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ my Lord. Let the life of Calvary live through me today, in Jesusβ name I pray. Amen.
May the Lord show you your death with Christ and your life in Him today. May every chain of the old nature be broken, may sin lose its hold, and may you walk as a free man, alive unto righteousness, through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen. πΌ
