Come, Oh Frail Child

I beheld you before the dawn was born,
before the rivers learned their course,
And I knew your name.
I formed you of dust and wonder,
and I called you Mine.

You have wandered through thorns and silence,
searching for Me among shadows,
Yet I was nearer than you breath
a whisper resting upon your soul.

Why weep, little one?
Have you forgotten the sound of My love?
I have engraved you upon My palms;
Your sighs are psalms to Me.

Come now,
lay down your burdens of becoming.
Striving was never yours to bear.
Be still, and know
I am your Rest.
