Women of God
Rebekah-Chosen

In Genesis 24, Abraham sent out a servant to seek a bride for his beloved son Isaac. I just knew there had to be gospel parallels between the story of Rebekah and the church, so I went searching. We know Isaac foreshadowed Christ in his faithful obedience and willingness to be laid down as a sacrifice by his father Abraham. Blessedly we are all spared like Isaac and the Lord provided another sacrifice- a ram/our Lord Jesus Christ. In the story of Rebekah, Abraham sent out his servant and 12 camels of riches to look for a bride to share the inheritance of Isaac. Nowadays, the Holy Spirit is seeking to build the church to present as a bride to Christ to share in his inheritance. It is no coincidence that the met at well and shared water; while Christ met the Samaritan woman at the well, offered her living water and became the seventh man in her life- the one who truly healed her broken heart.

Lord God, your gospel is woven into the very line and corner of the Bible. For this I praise you! You build my faith and strengthen my trust. You came to seek your church with treasure beyond comprehension. Give us faith like Rebekah and the Samaritan woman at the well, who left everything and followed a new life. Send your Holy Spirit out more and more to build your church.

Without saying a word, the man watched her closely to learn whether or not the Lord had made his journey successful.
When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two gold bracelets weighing ten shekels. Then he asked, “Whose daughter are you? Please tell me, is there room in your father’s house for us to spend the night?”
