THE MYSTERY OF THE KINGDOM
KEY VERSE:``` "So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground... and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how" (MARK 4:26-27).
Mark 4 is full of seeds and storms. Jesus taught that the Kingdom grows like seed cast into the ground — a man sleeps and rises, and the seed springs “he knoweth not how.” You can plant, you can water, but only God gives the increase. Then that same night, Jesus entered a storm. The disciples thought the storm would kill them, but the Word that had taught them about the seed was now sleeping in their boat. They cried, “Carest thou not that we perish?” He rose, rebuked the wind, and said, “Peace, be still.” The One who makes seed grow in secret is the same One who makes storms cease with a word.
Three truths from the seed and the storm: One, the Gospel grows by hidden power. “He knoweth not how.” You may not see growth today, but Calvary’s seed never fails. It grows night and day — first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn. Two, the Gospel sleeps but never sinks. Jesus slept in the storm, not because He did not care, but because He was in control. Calvary looked like defeat when Jesus slept in death, but it was power under control. Three, the Gospel reveals who is in your boat. “What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” When you have Jesus in your boat, the seed will grow and the storm will bow.
Is your life a field that looks empty or a boat that looks sinking? Trust the Sower. The seed He planted at Calvary is growing, and the Storm-Stiller is still in your boat. Peace, be still.
