The Gospel From Calvary

FRIDAY 1ST AUGUST, 2026

JESUS SETS THE CAPTIVE FREE ‍

KEY VERSE:``` "And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit" (MARK 5:2) and "Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee" (MARK 5:19).

Mark 5 opens with a man no one could help. He lived among the tombs, crying, cutting himself, broken by a legion of demons. Chains could not hold him, people avoided him. But when Jesus came, the tombs became a meeting place for mercy. One word β€” β€œCome out of the man, thou unclean spirit” β€” and the man who was possessed became clothed, seated, and in his right mind. That is what Calvary does. No chain the enemy forged can withstand the power of the Cross.

Three truths from the deliverance at Gadara: One, Jesus crosses seas for one sinner. The disciples thought they were going to the other side, but Jesus was going for one man dying among the dead. Calvary proves you are worth crossing for. Two, no chain is stronger than Christ. β€œNeither could any man tame him.” Men tried chains, but Jesus needed only a word. What religion cannot tame, Jesus can transform. Three, a delivered man becomes a preacher. β€œGo home... and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee.” The Gospel from Calvary does not make you silent. He that was a terror to the city became a testimony to the city.

Are you bound today? Bound by addiction, anger, fear, unclean thoughts? The tombs are not your home. Jesus has come to your shore this morning. Let His voice command your night, and go tell what great things the Lord hath done.
