The quote, “The closer we get to the return of Jesus... the more evil the world becomes,” reflects a biblical theme that Scripture does describe: before Christ's return there will be widespread sin, deception, and lawlessness. However, Christians should remember that God is still sovereign and calls His people to faithfulness rather than fear.

The Bible teaches that as the day of Christ approaches, wickedness will increase. Jesus said:

“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
— Matthew 24:12 (KJV)

The Apostle Paul also warned:

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.”
— 2 Timothy 3:1 (KJV)

The increasing evil in the world should not surprise the believer. Instead, it should remind us that God's Word is true and that Christ's return is certain. Our calling is not to follow the darkness but to shine as lights in a sinful world, preaching the gospel, living in holiness, and enduring faithfully.

Jesus gave this promise:

“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”

Therefore, do not let the darkness of this world discourage you. Repent of sin, trust in Jesus Christ, remain steadfast in His Word, and be ready for His coming.

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
— Matthew 24:42 (KJV)
