Isn't this interesting?

Jesus said we would have trouble in this world. The Bible repeats it: if you follow Jesus, there will be trials. But it often finishes with a promise of victory and deliverance.

Jesus said that we will have trouble in the world, but He has overcome it. Today we read that the righteous face many afflictions, but the Lord delivers them out of them all.

I love God's "buts."

If that "but" changes everything, why do we focus so much on the problem instead of the promise? Why do we gather people to agree with our struggle instead of reminding one another of what God has said?

Think back to the times God has already brought you through. He hasn't changed. The same God who delivered you then is with you now.

So today, don't fix your eyes on the trouble. Fix them on Jesus and His promises. He always has the final word.

Father, thank You for Your faithfulness. Help me keep my eyes on You, not my circumstances. Teach me to trust Your Word and stand on Your promises. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
