THE POWER OF PRAISE

Q) why do we praise God
A) Because he is worthy to be praised

Psalm 145:3 "Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom."
Revelation 4:11: "Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things..."
Psalm 145:3: "Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom."
1 Chronicles 16:25: "For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods."
Psalm 18:3: "I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies."

God doesn’t require our praises angels are 24/7 worshipping and praising God.

Revelation 4:8: The four living creatures never rest day or night from praising God's holiness.
Revelation 7:11-12: All the angels stand around the throne, falling on their faces to worship God forever and ever.
But why should we praise God, just to please him or bribe him for blessings?

We are not praising God for fulfilling our need, or i am in mood to praise.
We praise God because he is worthy to be praised.

It’s important for every believer to Praise God, because there is Power in praise,

Today Let’s learn the importance and the power of praises and why it is important for us to praise God.

1. “PRAISE WILL BRING GOD’S PRESENCE”

Praise is not just an expression—it is an invitation. When we praise God, we are not trying to reach Him; we are hosting Him.

Psalm 22:3 “But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.”

Ex: Psalm 46

Psalm 46 is often connected to a dramatic deliverance of Jerusalem, most likely during the reign of King Hezekiah when the Assyrian army, led by Sennacherib, surrounded the city.
• Crisis described:

2 Kings 18–19,
2 Chronicles 32,
Isaiah 36–37

God miraculously defeated the Assyrian army overnight.

“Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand…” (2 Kings 19:35)

The word “enthroned” means to sit, to abide, to rule.
When you praise, you are building a throne for God in your situation.

In Ps 46:1-9 verses people praised God, look at the 10th verse, God answered to their praises by coming and enthroned on their praises.

God is everywhere (omnipresent), but He manifests His presence where He is praised.

2. “PRAISE WILL RELEASE VICTORY”

Praise is not passive—it is powerful warfare.

Many people wait for victory before they praise,
but the Bible teaches: You praise toward victory, not after victory.

• 2 Chronicles 20:21–22

King Jehoshaphat faced a massive enemy army.
Instead of sending warriors first, he sent singers praising God.

“As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes…”

“Victory didn’t start when they fought—Victory started when they praised.”

Exodus 14:14 - “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Praise is a declaration: “God, this battle is not mine—it is Yours.”

When you praise:
• You stop striving
• God starts fighting

Praise shifts the battle from your hands to God’s hands.

3. “PRAISE WILL BREAK CHAINS”

Chains are not always physical—many people are bound by:
• Fear
• Depression
• Addictions
• Oppression

But the Bible reveals a powerful truth: Praise has the power to break every chain.

Example: Paul and Silas
• Acts 16:25–26

“At midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God… suddenly there was a great earthquake… and everyone’s chains were loosed.”

Notice:
• They were still in chains
• Still in pain
• Still in prison

But they chose to praise.

The chains didn’t break because of effort—they broke because God showed up.

Praise changes your focus:
• From problem → to God
• From fear → to faith
• From bondage → to freedom

Many chains begin in the mind and spirit—and praise breaks them from the inside out.

When you praise, you break what was holding you.

Some chains cannot be broken naturally—
they require supernatural power, and praise activates it.

4. “PRAISE WILL SILENCE THE ENEMY”

The enemy works through noise—fear, lies, accusations, doubt.
But God has given believers a weapon that shuts that noise down: Praise.

Psalm 8:2
“Through the praise of children and infants You have established a stronghold against Your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.”

This is powerful:
• Not weapons
• Not strength
• But praise silences the enemy

Praise is not weak—it is spiritual authority released through your mouth.

The enemy speaks:
• “You will fail”
• “God is not with you”
• “There is no hope”

But praise declares:
• “God is faithful”
• “God is able”
• “God is in control”

When you praise, you replace the enemy’s lies with God’s truth.

• Psalm 22:3 “God is enthroned in the praises…”

When God is enthroned:
• The enemy is dethroned

You cannot have God ruling and the enemy dominating at the same time.

When you praise:
• The enemy loses clarity
• His plans collapse
Ex: Jehoshapath war

Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You…”

Praise keeps your focus on God, not on fear.

A praising heart is a protected mind.

5. “PRAISE WILL RESTORE JOY AND STRENGTH”

Many believers are not defeated outwardly—but drained inwardly.
They have lost:
• Joy
• Strength
• Passion

But God has given a divine exchange: Praise restores what life has drained.

Isaiah 61:3 “…the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”

Notice: it is an exchange
• Heaviness goes
• Praise comes
• Joy returns

You cannot wear heaviness and praise at the same time.

Psalm 16:11
“In Your presence there is fullness of joy…”

If joy is found in His presence, and praise brings His presence—then praise restores joy.

Nehemiah 8:10
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”

When joy returns, strength follows.

If the enemy can steal your joy, he can weaken you.
If you restore your joy through praise, you regain your strength.

When you praise:
• Heaviness is lifted
• Joy is restored
• Strength is renewed
• Your spirit comes alive again

So Praise will:
• Bring God’s presence
• Release victory
• Break chains
• Silence the enemy
• Restore joy and strength

But we need to remember that praise or worship it’s not accidental, it’s a choice

Habakkuk 3:17–19
“Yet I will rejoice in the Lord… The Lord is my strength.”

Even without visible results, praise revived the prophet’s strength.

Psalm 42:11 “Why are you cast down, O my soul? … Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him.”

The Psalmist didn’t wait for feelings—he spoke to his soul and chose praise.

Sometimes you don’t need a change of situation—you need a revival of praise.

Application
• Praise when you feel like it
• Praise when you don’t feel like it
• Praise before the breakthrough

Because your praise is not a reaction—it is a weapon.

Closing Declaration

“Lord, I will praise You in every season.
In battles, I will praise.
In pain, I will praise.
In victory, I will praise.
Because You are worthy!”
