Called Friends, Not Servants

"I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you My friends, because I have revealed to you everything that I have heard from My Father." — John 15:15 (AMP)

Jesus offers us one of the most intimate invitations in all of Scripture: He calls us His friends. A servant obeys because they are told what to do, but a friend is welcomed into the heart, plans, and purposes of the One they love. Through Christ, we are no longer distant from God—we are invited into a close, personal relationship with Him.

Being a friend of Jesus means walking with Him daily, listening to His voice through His Word, and trusting His heart even when we don't understand every step. He doesn't hide His love or His purposes from those who seek Him. As we spend time in His presence, He reveals His wisdom, shapes our character, and draws us closer to Himself.

This friendship is not earned by our perfection but is made possible through His grace. Jesus chose to love us first, and He invites us to respond with faith, obedience, and love. What an incredible privilege to know that the King of kings desires a personal relationship with us.

Today, remember that you are not merely called to work for Jesus—you are called to walk with Him as His friend. Let that truth fill your heart with confidence, peace, and joy.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for calling me Your friend. Thank You for inviting me into a close relationship with You and for revealing Your heart through Your Word. Help me to listen for Your voice, trust Your leading, and walk with You each day. May my life reflect the love and friendship You have so graciously given me. In Your precious name, Amen.
