Hello, I would like to share with you the message from 4 August 2026 from “The Good Seed” daily calendar.
When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, Do not weep. (Luke 7:13)
Comfort for the grieving
The Lord Jesus approaches the city of Nain. A funeral procession comes toward Him. The only son of a widow is being carried to his grave. The mother weeps over this bitter loss. Many accompany her to express their condolences to the grieving woman.
When the Lord sees her, He is moved with compassion. He understands her sorrow over her only son. He perceives the devastating consequences that death brings upon people. His heart is deeply moved. In the same way, the Lord Jesus feels today with all those who mourn the passing of a loved one. He sees how painful saying goodbye is. He knows what it means to painfully miss someone.
The Lord addresses the grieving mother: “Do not weep.” He can comfort her because He understands her and has the power to help her. Even today, the comforting words of the Lord Jesus, which He gives to mourners when reading the Bible, are like balm for their wounded hearts. His comfort is genuine and profound.
The Son of God touches the bier and says, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” Then the dead man sits up and begins to speak. What joy it is for the mother to have her son alive again! Believing Christians possess the firm hope of resurrection. When the Lord comes to gather His own, He will raise from the dead all those who have already “fallen asleep”. What a moment that will be!
Today’s reading: Joshua 9:1-16 – 1 Corinthians 7:25-40
