THE STORY BEHIND "BLESSED ASSURANCE JESUS IS MINE "

Few hymns have brought as much comfort and confidence to Christians around the world as "Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine." Its message of unwavering faith and joyful hope has made it one of the most beloved hymns in church history.

The hymn was born in 1873 through the remarkable partnership of Fanny J. Crosby, one of history's most prolific hymn writers, and Phoebe Palmer Knapp, a gifted composer.

Phoebe Knapp had composed a new melody and invited Fanny Crosby to her home. Sitting at the piano, Knapp played the tune and asked, "What does this melody say to you?" Almost instantly, Crosby replied, "Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!" Those inspired words became the opening lines of a hymn that would touch millions of lives.

Although Fanny Crosby was blind from infancy, she possessed an extraordinary spiritual vision. Her hymns consistently reflected her deep trust in Christ rather than her physical limitations. "Blessed Assurance" expresses the joy, peace, and confidence of a believer who knows that salvation is secure through Jesus Christ.
