"THE HEART" — WHAT GOD SEES WITHIN
WHAT FILLS THE HEART
Luke 6:45 (LLV) —
“A good person brings good things out of the good treasure stored in his heart, and an evil person brings evil things out of the evil stored in his heart. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
A spring
cannot give
fresh water
if its source
is polluted.
A tree
cannot bear
healthy fruit
if it is
dying within.
Jesus says
our words
work
the same way.
They reveal
what has been
growing
inside us.
“Out of the abundance
of the heart
the mouth speaks.”
Our words
do not appear
by accident.
They flow
from the place
where our thoughts,
our desires,
and our affections
have been gathering.
When our hearts
are filled
with gratitude,
gratitude
finds its way
into our conversations.
When our hearts
are filled
with peace,
our words
bring peace.
When our hearts
are filled
with Christ,
His love,
His kindness,
and His truth
begin to overflow
into the lives
of others.
This verse
invites us
to look deeper
than our speech.
Instead of asking,
"How can I
change my words?"
Jesus asks,
"What is filling
your heart?"
The good news
is that God
does not simply
trim the branches.
He transforms
the root.
As we spend time
with Him,
His Word
begins to shape
our thoughts.
His Spirit
reshapes
our desires.
And little by little,
our words
become
a reflection
of the work
He is doing
within us.
A new beginning begins within:
allowing Christ to fill our hearts so completely that His love naturally overflows into everything we say and do.
Reflection: If someone listened to my words this week, what would they discover about what has been filling my heart?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for caring about what lies beneath my words. Fill my heart with Your love, Your truth, and Your peace until they naturally overflow into my conversations and my actions. Guard me from bitterness, pride, and fear, and help me become a person whose words bring life because my heart belongs to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
