Not every prophet carries a message.

Some carry a weight.

A holy heaviness that settles upon the soul without asking permission.

They cannot explain it.

Only bear it.

The world calls it sadness.

Heaven calls it the burden of the Lord.

Before Jeremiah spoke with fire,

he wept.

Before Ezekiel prophesied,

he sat astonished among the captives.

Before Habakkuk received his answer,

he first carried his questions.

The Nabi does not merely hear God's voice.

He feels God's heart.

There are nights when the Seer does not lose sleep because of anxiety.

He loses sleep because heaven is awake.

There are prayers that were never born from human concern.

They were conceived in the heart of God and placed within the spirit of a prophet.

The burden comes before the word.

The tears before the sermon.

The groaning before the prophecy.

Many seek the Lord's voice.

Few ask to carry His heart.

For His heart is heavy.

Heavy with mercy.

Heavy with longing.

Heavy with nations that have forgotten Him.

Heavy with sons who have wandered.

Heavy with cities that know not their visitation.

This is why the true prophet cannot always explain his tears.

Some tears are borrowed from God.

Some sighs did not originate in the human soul.

Some grief belongs to Another.

The burden is not punishment.

It is partnership.

God allows a prophet to feel what He feels,

so that the earth may hear what heaven is saying.

Do not envy the burden.

It is expensive.

It will break your pride.

Silence your ambition.

Empty your strength.

Until the only thing remaining

is the heart of God beating within the heart of a man.

For the greatest honour of the Nabi

is not merely to speak the Word of the Lord.

It is to carry the burden of the Lord

until His heart

becomes

your own.
