Today’s Scripture

John 1:45 (ESV)

“Philip found Nathanael and said to him, ‘We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.’”

Opening the Scriptures

Philip had just heard two words from Jesus: “Follow Me.”

Now notice what happens next. Philip does not keep what he has discovered to himself. He goes and finds Nathanael.

Philip understood something that our generation desperately needs to recover: Jesus Christ is not merely someone to admire privately. He is the promised Savior whom others need to know.

Philip also recognized that Jesus had not suddenly appeared without explanation. Moses and the prophets had written of the One who was to come. The Old Testament was pointing forward to Christ.

The Bible is not a collection of disconnected religious stories. From beginning to end, Scripture reveals God’s redemptive purpose, ultimately centered in Jesus Christ.

Living God’s Word Today

If Christ has truly changed our lives, we should desire that others know Him.

We do not need elaborate programs, impressive presentations, or clever arguments before we can speak about Christ. Philip simply went to Nathanael and told him whom he had found.

Our responsibility is not to change another person’s heart. Only God can do that.

Our responsibility is to faithfully point people to Jesus Christ.

Today, think of one person who needs to hear about Christ. Do not merely hope that someone else reaches them.

Go. Speak. Invite. Point them to Jesus.

Faithful disciples do not keep Christ to themselves.

Question for Today:
Who is the one person you will speak to about Jesus Christ?

Respond with their first name—or simply write: “I will.”
