DAY 1: FOUND IN THE UNEXPECTED
Devotional
Most of us have a plan for how we expect life to go. We map out our careers, our relationships, our futures. But if you look back honestly, some of the most significant moments with God did not happen on the easy days. They happened in the hard ones.
The man in Matthew 13 was not on a treasure hunt. He was just going about his day when he stumbled onto something that changed everything. That is often how God works. He meets us in the middle of our mess, our grief, our confusion, and our failure. He uses the very things we would never choose to reveal something we could never manufacture on our own.
Maybe you are in a hard season right now. A health scare. A relationship that has fallen apart. A failure you cannot stop replaying in your mind. Those moments feel like anything but treasure. But God is not absent in them. He is often most present in them.
He uses difficulty to draw us closer to His Word, and as we align ourselves with Scripture, we begin to see our circumstances differently. The hard thing becomes the doorway to something real and lasting.
You do not have to have it all figured out. You just have to stay open to what God might be doing in the unexpected places of your life.
Bible Verse
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." - Matthew 13:44 (English Standard Version (ESV))
Reflection Question
Is there a difficult circumstance in your life right now that God might be using to reveal something of greater spiritual value to you?
Quote
"The first truth about spiritual treasure is this spiritual treasure is revealed in unexpected ways."
Prayer
Lord, help me to trust You in the hard and unexpected moments of my life. Open my eyes to see the treasure You are revealing, even when the circumstances are painful. Amen.
