*Dead Faith...*
"...as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also" (James 2:26).
A body needs the *spirit* to function; without it, it is dead. Likewise, faith that does not manifest in works is useless. Just as the spirit is essential for the body, *the works we do* are essential for our faith to be revealed. It is based on our actions that those around us judge the kind of people we are.
James writes that sending away a hungry person with mere words like "be at peace and be happy," without providing the necessary food, constitutes a dead work.
It is written that Abraham, the father of faith, obeyed God's word and *dared to offer his son as a sacrifice*. Abraham's actions were necessary to demonstrate the faith he held in the Lord; that is why he took Isaac all the way to the place of sacrifice.
We believe in God. That is good. But faith alone is not enough. The Scripture says, *"You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!"* (James 2:19).
*The faith we place in the living God must also be a living faith.*
Amen.
