Sometimes, people’s perception of us is shaped by the light they happen to view us through—their experiences, assumptions, expectations, emotions, or standpoint. The same person can look different under different lights. Yet beneath those changing shades, the person remains the person. So, before you form an opinion about someone based on what you see, pause and ask: “Am I seeing the person—or merely the light through which I encountered them?” People are deeper than first impressions.
