WAIT… THAT’S IN THE BIBLE? — DAY 3

“A lighthearted look at some of the wonderfully unexpected things you discover when you actually read your Bible, context still matters!”

“And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven…” Ezekiel 8:3 KJV

EZEKIEL’S TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS WERE… UNUSUAL.

There Ezekiel was, minding his own business, when his next prophetic assignment began with:

GRAB HAIR.
LIFT PROPHET.
COMMENCE JOURNEY.

No chariot.

No donkey.

No “Please fasten your seatbelt.”

Just…

“I’ve got you by the hair. We’re going to Jerusalem.”

Suddenly being asked to walk somewhere doesn’t sound so bad.

Now, context still matters! Ezekiel is describing a serious prophetic vision in which God takes him, by the Spirit, to Jerusalem and shows him the idolatry taking place there.

But you have to admit…

If someone asked Ezekiel:

“How was your trip?”

I’m imagining him rubbing his head and saying:

“Enlightening… but next time I’m asking for a chariot.”

Sometimes Bible study gives you profound revelation…

and sometimes you discover that Ezekiel’s prophetic travel insurance probably needed to cover hair loss.
