And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. This comment is by Andrew Tennant The reason Cains sacrifice was not accepted, was because he was trying to get forgiveness on his own, and worship his own way, and not the way God had intended and told them to worship and sacrifice, and Able was following God's way and obeyed the commandment on how to sacrifice the way God had told them to sacrifice. That is how our society is now, some try to get forgiveness on there own merits with out God and and not obeying Gods' commandments and others follow God's commandments and repent and ask God for forgiveness. So we are rather HOT or COLD because there can not be any in between or lukewarm God will spit you out of His mouth. Revelation 3:15-16 (KJV) I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. One class available themselves of the appointed sacrifice for sin; the other venture to depend on their own merits; their is a sacrifice without the virtue of divine mediation, and thus it is not able to bring man into favor with God. It is only through the merits of Jesus that our transgression can be psrdened.
