Jesus got the same "but" as Jonah.

This is not my typical post, but I love to provide simple visuals or sketches to bring a Bible verse to a clear understanding. While the Pharisees demanded a sign from Jesus, He declared to them that the only sign they would receive is the sign of Jonah. "For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here. " (Matthew 12:40-41)

Both Jonah and Jesus willingly gave their life, and everyone else around them assumed they were dead and gone. The coolest part of this story is that both Jonah and Jesus got a "BUT God" moment.

"BUT You, Lord my God, brought my life up from the pit" (Jonah 2:6)

"BUT God raised Him from the dead" (Acts 13:30)

That's the sign that the Pharisees received, and that's the sign that we all have today. Jesus laid His life down, went down into the heart of the earth, and then got a "BUT God" moment. The best news for us? We can have a "BUT God" moment as well: And God who raised the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. (1st Corinthians 6:14)

Please let me know if this type of post is an encouragement to you, and if you'd like more of these. It's not my typical style of posts, but it was on my heart to teach today rather than create a new piece of art.
