Walking by the Spirit

Galatians 5:16 (AMP)
“But I say, walk habitually in the Abraham Munuve Spirit [that is, seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts].”

Every day, we face a choice: Will I follow my feelings and impulses, or will I follow the Holy Spirit?

The flesh often says, “Do what feels right.” It can pull us toward anger, impatience, pride, selfishness, fear, or temptation. But the Holy Spirit gently leads us toward what pleases God.

Paul doesn’t simply tell us to fight the flesh. He tells us to walk by the Spirit. Walking suggests a daily journey—one step at a time. We don’t have to figure everything out at once. We simply need to stay close to God, listen for His guidance, and obey Him in the small moments.

When you are tempted to react in anger, pause and ask, “Holy Spirit, how do You want me to respond?”
When you feel discouraged, ask, “Lord, what is Your truth?”

When you are unsure what to do, pray, “Guide my next step.”

The more we surrender to the Spirit, the less control our flesh has over us. This isn't about being perfect; it is about being responsive to God's presence every day.

Prayer
Father, help me to walk by Your Holy Spirit today. Teach me to listen to Your voice and respond to Your guidance. When my flesh wants to take control, help me choose Your way instead. Give me strength to obey You, wisdom to make godly choices, and a heart that stays close to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s reminder:
I don't have to be controlled by my feelings or impulses. I can choose to walk with the Holy Spirit, one step at a time.
