To start Leading, one must learn to lead not by learning but by doing, i.e., you have to practice leadership to become a good leader. Get a group of people and start leading them. You will find there are four levels involved:
a) Leadership interests people. There is something interesting about a person who knows where they are going. Having a purpose in life is the interest level.
b) Leadership impresses people. This is about a person who not only know where they are going but have been there. So they take you where they have been themselves.
c) Leadership influences people. The person who influences others not only have they been there, but they have come back to take you with them so that you can take an incredible journey together.
d) Leadership impacts people. The purpose and goal of leadership is not only to take people to the top of the mountain, but one becomes an excellent leader when they teach people to go, find people and lead them. In so doing they multiply themselves. Know that if you are the only one leading people in an organization, it will take a lot of time to come down and take every single person to the top individually. This could wear you down. And the only thing that gets done is what you touch and do.
