WAIT… THAT’S IN THE BIBLE? — DAY 7

A lighthearted look at some of the wonderfully unexpected things you discover when you actually read your Bible, context still matters!

“The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.”
Proverbs 26:15

If you have ever been so comfortable on the couch that reaching into the chip bag felt like a massive workout…

congratulations.

The book of Proverbs officially called you out thousands of years before the invention of television or the smartphone.

Apparently this bloke managed to complete:

STEP 1: Put hand in food.
STEP 2: Bring food to mouth.

And just decided…

“Nah. Too much effort.”

Context still matters! Proverbs 26 uses deliberately ridiculous pictures to expose the foolishness of habitual laziness. The point isn’t that resting is wrong, Scripture values rest, but that laziness can become so ingrained that even the simplest responsibility feels like too much effort.

But still

If your hand is already IN THE CHIP BAG and eating them feels like too much work

Proverbs would like a word with you.
