Each one of us is created by God intrinsically and uniquely in His own image, for a specific purpose. The imagery of the Potter and the clay is a reminder that God is the Potter and we are the clay. God is at work in each one of us, but sin, disobedience, and rebellion have hindered God from fashioning us into the vessels that He purposed. The good news is that when we repent and yield ourselves into the Lord's hands, He does not discard us, but reshapes and remolds us to become a useful vessel for His service.
