Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are false, who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways, who find joy in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil.

Since the fall of Adam, there is a love for sin in the unconverted heart and a tendency to cherish and excuse it. The inclination toward sin and the desire for it indicate a deception of the soul. Every nurturing of that sinful desire strengthens the soul's averse hostility toward our Father... A continuous battle must be waged against our earthly disposition; we must be assisted by the ennobling influence of our Father's grace, which will elevate the mind and lead it to contemplate pure and holy things.
