The command by God to the people of Israel who were taken captive and exiled to Babylon was not to rebel, hate or isolate themselves, but to pray for peace, so that they too can lead peaceful lives. As believers in Jesus, we too have a responsibility to pray for God's peace and blessings on those around us, and a greater call to pray for their salvation so they too can be at peace with God. This prayer for peace should extend to all the war-torn nations, and every country where hatred, violence and communal disharmony are rampant.
