Much grace

Paul was teaching Timothy that leaders must learn to deal with disappointment without allowing it to destroy their hearts.

When human support disappears, a leader must remember that God's presence is greater than human approval. Our calling cannot depend on whether people stand with us.

We will all experience moments when others fail to meet our expectations. The question is not whether people will disappoint us, but how we will respond when they do.

Paul was abandoned by people, but he did not abandon his calling. His response teaches Timothy and every leader—that we must never allow the failure of people to become an excuse for failing God.
