Paul prays that believers would understand spiritually what God has already given them through Christ. When the “eyes of our heart” are opened, we begin to see beyond our present circumstances and recognize the hope, purpose, and eternal inheritance we have in Him. Our confidence does not rest in what we can see today, but in the promises of the God who called us. When God opens our spiritual eyes, we begin to see our circumstances through the lens of His promises rather than His promises through the lens of our circumstances.
