On Sunday at ZUB (Zanesville United Brethren Church), I will among other things be sharing before the offering is collected. Think on these verses I will share with our very generous and loving Church Family.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully[a] will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency[b] in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

Those are my favorite verses related to giving to God and to others. This, not the Tithe lie, sums up everything God expects of us in our giving.

We are to give joyfully and freely, not out of obligation. We learn here that God provides opportunities to give, and we are most blessed when we cheerfully act on those opportunities. We also see that giving freely maximizes our Joy.

I will never tell you that you have to give to a certain place, in a certain way, or a certain amount. All of that is between you and God. But I do challenge you to give as cheerfully and freely as the Wonderful People in Zanesville so that not only are you blessed but so are many other people.
