WHEN I CALL UPON HIM, GOD DRAWNS NEAR
Lamentations 3:57-58
"On the day I called to you, you drew near; you said, 'Do not fear! Lord, you have pleaded my cause; you have redeemed my life.'"
In the midst of his distress, Jeremiah remembered God's faithfulness. In his trial, he cried out to the Lord and discovered that God was not far away: He drew near, He reassured him, and He defended his cause.
God's presence changes the reality of our struggles. He doesn't promise the absence of trials, but He promises not to abandon us in the midst of them.
When we cry out to God, we are not speaking into the void. He draws near. He can say to our hearts, "Do not fear!" and take in hand what we are no longer able to bear.
Do not let the Fear of abandonment. Call upon the Lord. Entrust your cause, your future, and your struggles to Him. You don't need to understand everything to continue hoping: the One who redeemed you watches over you.
Lord, in my struggles, help me turn to You rather than to fear. Draw near to me, defend the cause of my soul, and teach me to remain in trust in the name of Jesus.
