Some parents and grandparents' children may have started the new school year already while many children have started this week. Today’s prayer will center on 10 things we can pray as our children begin a new school year.
Heavenly Father, as our children begin a brand-new school year, we lift them up to You and place them entirely in Your loving care. We ask for Your grace to cover every part of their lives in the days ahead, and we pray these ten specific petitions for them:
Protection and Safety: Lord, surround them with Your angels to keep them safe physically, emotionally, and spiritually throughout every school day and during their travels to and from school.
Wisdom and Understanding: Grant them sharp minds, clear focus, and a genuine love for learning so they can grasp new concepts, solve problems, and grow academically.
Godly Friendships: Surround them with positive, uplifting peers who encourage them to do what is right, and help them to be kind, loyal, and supportive friends to others.
Courage Against Peer Pressure: Give them the inner strength to stand firm in their values, resist negative influences, and choose integrity even when it is difficult.
Confidence and Self-Worth: Remind them daily of their true identity as Your children, freeing them from anxiety, comparison, and the pressure to measure up to worldly standards.
Resilience in Hard Times: When they face academic struggles, disappointment, or failure, give them a resilient spirit to learn from setbacks and try again with hope.
Kindness and Compassion: Fill their hearts with Your love so they notice the lonely, left-out, or hurting students, and give them the courage to reach out with a welcoming hand.
Health and Energy: Grant them strong bodies, good immune systems, and restful sleep each night so they have the physical energy they need to thrive.
Respect for Authority: Cultivate in them a spirit of respect and cooperation toward their teachers, school administrators, and coaches, recognizing that these leaders are placed in their lives for a reason.
A Light for Christ: May their words, attitudes, and actions shine brightly in their school, drawing others closer to You through their daily example.
