Today is the day. No matter where I am, at twelve noon, I will be going live and drawing the name of the winner of my book bundle giveaway. You still have time to enter; I will check my email before I go live to see if there are any 11th-hour entries. I want this to be fair for all. Remember, multiple entries are completely acceptable. Today is the end of our three-day holiday with our son who lives three hours away. It has been hot, but it has been fantastic. First night: playing and gifts; second day/night: shopping and pizza; and today, before we head home, we will help him fix the mower we just fixed for him. Haha. Apparently, it does not like the fast (bunny rabbit) function. It eats belts. Haha.
Yesterday I got two hugs from a young lady who has made our stay in the hotel very pleasant and welcoming. We had a great chat and I first asked and got my first hug; then, after our conversation, she asked if she could have another. Who am I to say no to a good hug? Haha.
In the last few days, God has opened my eyes to several areas that He is trying to occupy, which I apparently am keeping Him from. That I guess I think I can do a better job at … I know that’s crazy, right? He has also shown me that I have made monstrous strides in other areas that I finally released to Him. Kind of a “Hey look, see these areas, look at how you are flourishing, now give me these too.” Kind of deal. Visual aids are the best reinforcement. How do you argue with what is right in front of you, especially when it is from Him?
Sometimes as we grow closer and stronger in Him, we get our thoughts and egos up in such a way that we think that we can ‘do’ more ourselves. I think that is where I have gotten to in a few areas of my life. These areas are the ones that He has asked for and for whatever goofy reason, I have not said, “Thanks, here you go.”
Isn’t it funny how we start getting good at something in our head and we think that we do not need anyone or anything else to help us; however, once we accept that help, we see a whole new arena of possibility and hope. Then we are kicking ourselves for being so arrogant to think that we didn’t need it in the first place. Those times we are flying solo, the enemy swoops in, ever so gradually and whispers confidently into our ears that we got this and we do not need anyone’s help. Without any real thought, we believe and continue on … without seeking Him or allowing Him to help/guide. I am so guilty of this. Probably one of my weakest areas … my ego. But, on the bright side, I do finally open my eyes. I do finally see what I was missing. I do fall on my knees and ask for His help. And the Light that He shines on the situation … remarkable every time.
Today, as we go through the day, may we all seek His face first in everything that we do. Each time that the enemy tries to feed us a line, may we all tell him, the enemy, to go kick sulfur rocks. Today belongs to God … the One who is always with us for each encounter we face in the day.
