God’s Miracle

“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

As the big glass doors open, the young woman walks through, wondering what her doctor is about to tell her concerning the test results. Her name is called all too soon. Please give me the strength to handle whatever the news may be, she prays silently. With another prayer sent to Heaven, she listens to the doctor as he tells her the worst thing she could possibly hear—cancer. As she sits there listening, it all seems like a bad dream she’ll wake up from any moment—but she doesn’t.

Then, out of nowhere, a peace washes over her, and a calm assurance that her Father and Savior is right there with her causes her to start praising God. She thanks Him for the trial He has placed in her path, and then praises Him for trusting her enough to be able to pass through the tempest sea. Her boat is being thrown from side to side, but inside she is being safely guarded by her loving Savior.

Everything is so dark and black around her, but she knows that she can handle anything that comes her way with her Lord by her side. Not because she’s strong in her own power (in fact, she feels very weak and vulnerable), but because she remembers the Bible promise, “For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10. You see, she’s learned in her walk with Christ that faith is trusting God no matter where He leads or however things turn out. Learning faith in God isn’t easy, but just as we learn to walk as children, each step gets easier.

Sometimes He gives us a light in the darkness that helps clear our tear-filled eyes. In each trial, we come to the place where we stop complaining and start rejoicing! Learning to praise God in the difficult times helps us prepare for what is coming. Soon we will face the most difficult times this world has ever seen, and as Remnant people, we need to practice now. The storms of life prepare us so that when we’re called to the hardest test, we’ll have the trust in Christ to step forward and meet it.

As she continues to praise her Savior, her doctor tells her that she’ll need to take more tests—but this time from a different laboratory to double-check the results. She agrees to do it, and after a few days, the results came back again— but this time, they’re negative. A few more tests, and they all came back negative! Praise the Lord!

Although she knows things don’t always turn out that way for everyone, she’s very grateful for the results; and while she can’t possibly understand why God allows bad things to happen, she knows that His ways are the best.
