In Mark 8:36, Jesus asks one of the most important questions anyone can ever consider:
тАЬWhat shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?тАЭ
Jesus is reminding us that true success is not measured only by what we gain, but by what we preserve.
A person may gain wealth, recognition, influence, education, possessions, position, and applause, yet lose the most valuable thingтАФhis relationship with God.
The world often tells us:
тАЬGet more. Become more. Achieve more. Possess more.тАЭ
But Jesus tells us to ask a deeper question:
тАЬWhat is the condition of your soul?тАЭ
There is nothing wrong with success, prosperity, education, influence, or legitimate ambition. The danger comes when these things become more important than God.

Your possessions are importantтАФbut your relationship with God is more important.
Today, God is calling us to reorder our priorities.
