“𝘏𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘧,
𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘧.”
A broken heart can look perfectly normal from the outside. We go to work, answering messages, carrying responsibilities, smiling at people, and carrying on—while something inside remains wounded. We may wonder whether anyone truly sees what we carry. The question is not whether our hearts will ever break, but where we will turn when they do.
🕮 𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟏𝟒𝟕:𝟑 gives us a tender revelation about our God: “𝘏𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴.” The psalmist does not present God as distant from human suffering. The God who rules the heavens also stoops to care for wounded hearts. Nothing is too vast for His rule, and no wound is too small for His care.
A physician does not pass by the hurting. He draws near, carefully dressing an open wound, and begins the work of restoration. Our pain does not frighten God away. The wound that others overlook is not overlooked by Him. God ministers to our broken hearts, assuring us that healing is not just possible but promised.
Scripture repeatedly reveals God's nearness to the afflicted. “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘖𝘙𝘋 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵” (𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟑𝟒:𝟏𝟖). He is “𝘢 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦” (𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟒𝟔:𝟏). His compassion is not sentimental weakness; it is covenant faithfulness. “𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯, 𝘴𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘖𝘙𝘋 𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘩𝘪𝘮” (𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟏𝟎𝟑:𝟏𝟑).
But biblical healing does not mean pretending the wound never happened. God can use suffering to teach us dependence upon Him. “𝘔𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘦: 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴” (𝟐 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟏𝟐:𝟗). Don’t think that nobody cares about your pain today; a broken heart in God’s hands is not abandoned debris—wounded does not mean abandoned; it is where God did some operation in you.
Our pain does not surprise Christ. Before sorrow ever pierced our hearts, nails pierced His hands for us. “𝘏𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴” (𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟓𝟑:𝟓). At the cross, Jesus bore sin’s curse and opened the way for wounded sinners to come near and be reconciled to God. The One who died and rose again is able to heal what grief has shattered.
What wound are you still carrying as though God cannot touch it? You don’t need Christ just for the days when everything feels whole; you need Him to meet you in the places where you are broken. Rise up, child of God, bring your broken pieces to Him today—and trust Him to heal your brokenness.
𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: Heavenly Father, we bring You the wounds we cannot explain and the pain we cannot hide. Help us trust Your nearness, rest in Your grace, and look to Christ as our only hope. Heal what You will, strengthen what is weak, and teach us to depend on You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Remember, a dose of God’s Word a day will keep you going all day!
