In the midst of all the trials, sufferings, and hardships that God's people were going through, the call was for honest self-evaluation and a wholehearted return to God in prayer. As believers in Jesus, we must examine ourselves deep within to make sure that our desires, thoughts, motives, choices, actions and reactions are right before God. If we desire to be transformed from within, we cannot justify our wrongs, blame others, or cover up our sins. To lift up our hearts and hands to God means to seek Him with penitent hearts, expressing our trust, vulnerability, and total surrender to God through our fervent prayers.
