WHEN PETER SAID: REPENT OF YOUR WICKEDNESS POV: First person I remember the day Simon tried to treat the power of God like something that could be purchased. He saw the Holy Spirit being given through the laying on of hands, and he wanted that authority for himself. He thought money could buy what only God can give. So I answered him plainly: “May your money be destroyed with you for thinking God’s gift can be bought!” — Acts 8:20 I told him that his heart was not right before God and that he had no part in this ministry. Then I told him what he needed to hear—not because I hated him, but because he needed to repent: “Repent of your wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive your evil thoughts.” — Acts 8:22 I could see that his heart had been poisoned by bitterness, jealousy, and sin. He wanted the gift of God, but he had not surrendered his heart to God. That day taught me something I would never forget: God cannot be bought. His grace cannot be purchased. His Spirit cannot be manipulated. We do not earn salvation through money, good deeds, titles, influence, or religious works. Salvation is a gift of grace. 📖 “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” — Ephesians 2:8 So humble yourself before God. Repent. Trust Him. Seek His will—not His gifts. Don’t try to use God. Surrender to God.
