Fly Girl | Today, the Sky Feels Different

Today, September 11, I will be in the sky serving my passengers—but my heart will also be remembering those who never returned.

Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were lost on September 11, 2001. We honor the passengers, flight crews, first responders, survivors, and families whose lives were forever changed.

Recently, God placed a remarkable passenger on one of my flights. He was among the last to leave because he needed a wheelchair. He told me that a truck had overturned in Liberia, breaking his neck. He was taken to a military hospital—and he survived.

I said, “I’m sure you have many more stories about how God has brought you through difficult things.”

Then he handed me his card. It connected him to the World Trade Center.

He shared that he was there during the 9/11 attacks and was rescued alive from beneath the rubble. I realized I was sitting beside a survivor with an extraordinary testimony of courage, faith, and survival.

I look forward to welcoming him as an honored guest on my upcoming podcast, where he can share his story in his own words.

As I fly on September 11, I will remember. I will honor. I will pray.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” —Psalm 34:18

God is good all the time.
