Baptism is not optional obedience for the believer. Jesus commanded it, the apostles preached it, and the early believers responded to the Gospel by being baptized. We are saved by God’s grace through faith—not by earning salvation through works—but genuine faith does not treat Christ’s command as something to ignore.
