PROCESS PART 1 — WHAT IS PROCESS? The Architecture of Becoming «“God is not only interested in where you are going; He is deeply interested in who you become on the way there.”» FOUNDATION SCRIPTURE Philippians 1:6 «“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”» There are three powerful movements in this Scripture: Begun → Work → Perform Something begins. Something continues. Something is eventually brought to completion. Between the beginning and the completion is what we call PROCESS. --- 1. INTRODUCTION — THE JOURNEY BETWEEN WHAT GOD SAID AND WHAT YOU BECOME One of the greatest mistakes a believer can make is to think that because God has spoken about his destination, he is automatically ready for the destination. God may reveal the destination while hiding the route. He may reveal the promise while concealing the process. He may show you the throne while you are still carrying sheep. He may show you the palace while you are still in the prison. He may tell you about the ministry while He is still working on your character. He may give you a vision of what you will become without immediately giving you the capacity to carry it. Why? Because God is not merely building an assignment around you; He is building a person within you. This is why process is so important. The journey is not an interruption of God's plan. The journey is part of God's plan. --- 2. WHAT IS PROCESS? Process is the ordered progression through which something moves from one state of development to another until it becomes what it was designed to become. Process involves: - stages, - time, - development, - instruction, - testing, - correction, - pressure, - patience, - growth, - maturity, - and eventually manifestation. In simple terms: «Process is what happens between potential and maturity.» A seed has potential, but it must pass through a process to become a tree. An egg contains the potential for life, but development must occur before emergence. A child has the potential to become an adult, but growth takes place over time. A student has the potential to become a professional, but learning, practice, examination and experience are required. Likewise: «A believer can carry great potential and still require a great process.» --- 3. PROCESS IS GOD'S FORMATION OF THE PERSON WHO CAN CARRY THE PURPOSE This is the heart of the entire series. God does not merely ask: “Where are you going?” He also asks: “Who must you become to go there?” There are things your current version may desire that your current capacity cannot sustain. You may desire: - influence, - wealth, - leadership, - ministry, - marriage, - authority, - visibility, - responsibility, - impact, but every destination has a weight. And the person who carries the destination must have enough internal capacity to sustain that weight. Therefore: «Process is the development of capacity for destiny.» --- 4. PROMISE IS NOT THE SAME AS PROCESS This distinction is critical. A promise tells you what God has said. A process develops who you need to become. A manifestation is when what was promised becomes visible. A multiplication is when what has been developed in you begins to benefit others. So we can think of it this way: PROMISE “This is what I have spoken.” ↓ PROCESS “This is what I must develop in you.” ↓ PREPARATION “This is how I train you to carry it.” ↓ MANIFESTATION “Now what I spoke begins to become visible.” ↓ MULTIPLICATION “Now what I developed in you can flow through you to others.” This is why a prophecy can be genuine and still require years of preparation. --- 5. BIBLICAL CASE STUDY — JOSEPH Joseph is one of Scripture's clearest pictures of process. His journey: Dream → Pit → Slavery → Service → False accusation → Prison → Interpretation → Palace Genesis 37 introduces the dream. Genesis 41 introduces the palace. But between the dream and the palace is a long process. Joseph received the dream quickly. He did not receive the maturity required to manage Egypt instantly. The dream announced something about his future. The process developed something inside him. In Potiphar's house, Joseph learned stewardship. In prison, he learned responsibility under limitation. Through betrayal, he learned how to survive rejection. Through waiting, he learned endurance. Through interpretation, he demonstrated wisdom. By the time Pharaoh called him, Joseph was not merely a man who had a dream. He had become a man capable of carrying responsibility. Lesson: «The dream was given in a moment, but the man capable of carrying the dream was developed through years.» --- 6. PROCESS IS NOT PUNISHMENT This must be established early. Not every difficult season means God is angry with you. Sometimes difficulty is part of development. Joseph's prison was not the cancellation of his destiny. David's wilderness was not the cancellation of his anointing. Moses' years in Midian were not the cancellation of his calling. Abraham's waiting was not evidence that God's promise had failed. Jesus' hidden years were not wasted years. Therefore: «A difficult season is not automatically a rejected season.» Sometimes God is doing His deepest work in the season you understand the least. --- 7. PROCESS IS NOT DELAY There is a difference between delay and development. Delay means something is being held back. Development means something is being built. Sometimes what we call delay is actually development. You may say: «“Why hasn't God moved me?”» God may be saying: «“I am moving something inside you.”» You may ask: «“Why haven't I entered the next level?”» God may be asking: «“Have you developed the character required for that level?”» Sometimes God does not change your environment because He is changing you within the environment. --- 8. PROCESS IS NOT DENIAL Another dangerous mistake is assuming: «“Because I haven't received it yet, God must have said no.”» Not necessarily. Abraham waited. David waited. Joseph waited. Israel waited. The disciples waited. Waiting does not automatically mean denial. Sometimes the answer is: “Not yet.” And “not yet” can be one of the most important answers God gives a person. Because receiving something before you are ready can turn a blessing into a burden. --- 9. PROCESS IS NOT WASTED TIME This is one of the most important truths in this teaching. There are seasons that look unproductive from the outside but are incredibly productive internally. A tree spends significant time developing roots that are largely invisible. A foundation is buried beneath the building. An embryo develops in a hidden environment. A seed develops underground. Gold is refined in fire. A believer can also experience seasons where little appears to be happening publicly while much is happening privately. Luke 2:52 «“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”» Jesus grew. There was development. There was increase. There was a hidden season before public manifestation. Therefore: «Hidden does not mean inactive.» --- 10. THE EGG — A PICTURE OF PROCESS Our first major natural case study is the egg. The biological development of a chicken gives us a powerful picture of stages. The egg itself is formed through a biological process involving the yolk, albumen, membranes and shell. When fertilized and incubated, embryonic development continues inside the egg until the chick reaches the stage where it can hatch. We can use the simplified picture: Yolk → Egg formation → Complete egg → Fertilization → Incubation → Embryonic development → Hatching → Chick → Growth → Maturity → Reproduction And then the cycle begins again. This is powerful spiritually. Why? Because completion in one stage is often the beginning of another stage. The egg is not the end. Hatching is not the end. The chick is not the end. Maturity introduces another responsibility. And maturity eventually produces the ability to reproduce. --- 11. THE INCUBATION PRINCIPLE Inside the egg, development is taking place where nobody outside can see it. The shell can look almost unchanged while life is developing within. This gives us a powerful spiritual principle: «Some of God's greatest work in you will happen where nobody is applauding you.» There are seasons when: - nobody notices you, - nobody celebrates you, - nobody understands you, - your platform is small, - your opportunities seem limited, - your progress appears invisible. But God may be developing: wisdom, character, discernment, patience, faith, discipline, knowledge, endurance and capacity. Do not despise your incubation season. --- 12. THE DANGER OF BREAKING THE PROCESS Imagine someone becoming impatient with an egg and saying: «“I don't see anything happening.”» So they break the shell prematurely. They have not accelerated maturity. They have interrupted development. This is exactly what happens when believers become impatient with their spiritual process. They force: - relationships, - platforms, - opportunities, - leadership, - ministry, - finances, - visibility, - influence. And something that should have emerged naturally is forced prematurely. Therefore: «Not everything that can be forced should be forced.» There is a difference between faith and impatience. Faith obeys God. Impatience tries to help God. --- 13. PROCESS HAS STAGES A healthy process usually has identifiable stages. STAGE 1 — POTENTIAL Something exists in seed form. STAGE 2 — FORMATION The raw material begins taking shape. STAGE 3 — DEVELOPMENT Capacity begins increasing. STAGE 4 — TESTING What has been developed is tested. STAGE 5 — REFINEMENT Weaknesses are exposed and corrected. STAGE 6 — MATURITY The person or thing becomes capable of carrying greater responsibility. STAGE 7 — MANIFESTATION What was developing privately becomes visible publicly. STAGE 8 — MULTIPLICATION What has matured begins producing or developing others. And then: A new cycle begins. --- 14. PROCESS CHANGES YOU The greatest evidence of process is not always what you have acquired. Sometimes it is who you have become. At the beginning, you may be: - impatient. Later, you become patient. You may begin insecure. Later, you become established. You may begin dependent on people's approval. Later, you become secure in God. You may begin reacting emotionally. Later, you learn restraint. You may begin wanting the platform. Later, you understand the responsibility. This is transformation. Romans 12:2 speaks of transformation through the renewing of the mind. God isn't simply trying to change your location. He is changing your configuration. --- 15. PROCESS BUILDS CHARACTER Character is what remains when nobody is watching. God may allow you to pass through situations that expose what is actually inside you. Pressure doesn't always create what is inside you. Sometimes pressure reveals what is inside you. A person can look patient until patience is required. A person can look faithful until obedience becomes costly. A person can look humble until correction arrives. A person can look spiritual until temptation appears. Process brings these things to the surface. James 1:2–4 The testing of faith produces patience, and patience develops maturity. Therefore: «Some tests are not designed to destroy you; they are designed to reveal and develop you.» --- 16. PROCESS BUILDS CAPACITY Capacity is your ability to carry what you have been entrusted with. The larger the assignment, the greater the capacity required. You cannot sustainably carry: greater authority with immature character. You cannot sustainably carry: greater resources without greater stewardship. You cannot sustainably carry: greater influence without greater responsibility. You cannot sustainably carry: greater visibility without greater internal stability. This is why God may increase responsibility gradually. Luke 16:10 «“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.”» The little is not always insignificant. Sometimes the little is training for the much. --- 17. PROCESS TESTS OBEDIENCE One of the greatest questions of process is: «Can you obey when you don't understand?» Abraham had to leave. Noah had to build. Moses had to return to Egypt. Peter had to launch the net. The disciples had to follow Jesus without knowing everything the journey would contain. Obedience is easy when the instruction makes perfect sense. Process often asks for obedience when the full picture is unavailable. Proverbs 3:5–6 «“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”» Sometimes: God gives the next instruction, not the entire map. --- 18. PROCESS REQUIRES PATIENCE James 1:4 says: «“But let patience have her perfect work…”» Patience is not passive laziness. Biblical patience is the ability to remain faithful while development is taking place. You continue praying. You continue learning. You continue obeying. You continue growing. You continue preparing. You continue trusting. Even when the manifestation has not yet arrived. Remember: «A seed does not become a tree because you stare at it.» It becomes a tree because it continues through its designed process. --- 19. PROCESS REQUIRES DISCIPLINE Inspiration can start something. Discipline sustains it. You may feel motivated to pray today. But discipline keeps you praying tomorrow. You may feel excited about learning. Discipline keeps you learning when excitement disappears. You may receive a calling. Discipline helps you prepare for the calling. You may receive an opportunity. Discipline determines whether you can sustain it. Therefore: «Process is not sustained by excitement alone; it is sustained by consistent obedience.» --- 20. WHAT MUST DIE IN PROCESS? This is where process becomes uncomfortable. Some things cannot accompany you into your next season. God may need to remove: - pride, - wrong relationships, - unhealthy appetites, - bad thinking, - laziness, - fear, - insecurity, - dependency on human approval, - ignorance, - entitlement, - impatience. Jesus said: John 15:2 «“Every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”» Pruning is painful. But pruning has purpose. The question is not merely: “Why is God taking this away?” Sometimes ask: “What greater fruit is this pruning making room for?” --- 21. WHAT MUST BE DEVELOPED? While some things are removed, others are developed. God develops: Faith So you can trust Him. Character So you can represent Him. Wisdom So you can make sound decisions. Discernment So you can distinguish correctly. Capacity So you can carry responsibility. Patience So you don't destroy what requires time. Discipline So you can sustain consistency. Humility So success doesn't destroy you. Love So power does not become cruelty. Stewardship So resources don't become idols. --- 22. THE PEOPLE GOD USES IN YOUR PROCESS Not everyone who enters your life is assigned to your destination. Some people are: Teachers. Some are: Testers. Some are: Helpers. Some are: Correctors. Some are: Mentors. Some are: Examples. Some are: Warnings. Some people may only accompany you through one season. Jesus had the twelve. Paul had Timothy. Moses had Aaron. David had Jonathan. Elijah had Elisha. Discern relationships. A person can be good and still not be assigned to your next season. --- 23. THE ENVIRONMENTS GOD USES God can use environments as classrooms. Joseph had: The pit. Then: Potiphar's house. Then: The prison. Then: The palace. Each environment taught something different. The pit taught him something about abandonment. The house taught him stewardship. The prison tested faithfulness under limitation. The palace required wisdom and leadership. Therefore: «Don't only ask God to change your environment. Ask Him what the environment is teaching you.» --- 24. THE DANGER OF COMPARISON One of the greatest enemies of process is comparison. You look at another person and say: «“Why is their journey faster?”» But you don't know their process. You see someone's harvest but not their planting. You see their platform but not their preparation. You see their manifestation but not their years of development. Galatians 6:4 «“But let every man prove his own work…”» Your process is your process. Don't compare: your chapter 2 with someone else's chapter 20. Comparison can make you despise legitimate preparation. --- 25. THE DANGER OF PREMATURE MANIFESTATION A person can become visible before becoming mature. That is dangerous. Platform without character. Authority without responsibility. Money without wisdom. Influence without discipline. Knowledge without understanding. Gift without character. Ministry without formation. A gift can open a door that character cannot keep you in. Therefore: «It is possible to arrive somewhere before you are ready to remain there.» God is interested not only in getting you there. He wants to make you sustainable there. --- 26. REAL-LIFE SCENARIO — THE STUDENT Imagine two students. One wants graduation immediately. The other understands that graduation requires: Classes → assignments → study → examinations → correction → repetition → completion. The student who hates the process may cheat. The student who embraces the process develops knowledge. One wants the certificate. The other becomes competent. Spiritual lesson: «Don't become so obsessed with the evidence of arrival that you neglect the development required for the assignment.» --- 27. REAL-LIFE SCENARIO — THE BUSINESS Someone sees a successful business and says: «“I want what they have.”» But they don't see: - failed ideas, - financial mistakes, - customer complaints, - learning, - restructuring, - discipline, - years of consistency, - difficult decisions. They want the harvest without the cultivation. But success that comes without corresponding capacity can become destructive. --- 28. REAL-LIFE SCENARIO — MINISTRY A person receives a powerful encounter with God and immediately wants a global ministry. But ministry requires more than revelation. It requires: Character. Scriptural depth. Prayer. Discipline. Love. People skills. Leadership. Stewardship. Accountability. Faithfulness. Endurance. An encounter can introduce you to a calling. Process prepares you to carry it. --- 29. HOW DO I KNOW WHAT GOD IS PROCESSING IN ME? Ask yourself: What keeps being tested? That may reveal what God is developing. What keeps exposing weakness? That may reveal what needs growth. What instruction keeps returning? That may reveal what God wants established. What responsibility keeps increasing? That may reveal what God is preparing you to carry. What attitude keeps being confronted? That may reveal a character issue. What season keeps requiring patience? That may reveal something that cannot be rushed. --- 30. A PROCESS DIAGNOSTIC Sit quietly before God and ask: 1. What is God developing in me right now? 2. What is God removing from me? 3. What is God teaching me? 4. What is God testing in me? 5. What capacity is He building? 6. What attitude must change? 7. What habit must be established? 8. What relationship must be corrected? 9. What responsibility am I being prepared to carry? 10. What must I stop trying to force? These questions can reveal the season you are in. --- 31. HOW TO COOPERATE WITH YOUR PROCESS Don't merely survive your process. Cooperate with it. Stay teachable. Stay prayerful. Stay obedient. Keep learning. Accept correction. Don't despise small beginnings. Don't compare yourself with others. Don't force premature doors. Keep building capacity. Remain faithful in small things. Trust God's timing. Keep your eyes on Christ. --- 32. THE PROCESS OF THE BELIEVER We can summarize the believer's journey like this: ENCOUNTER God introduces Himself to you. ↓ CALLING You discover there is something He wants you to do. ↓ FORMATION God begins working on you. ↓ TESTING Your faith and character are tested. ↓ REFINEMENT Weaknesses are confronted. ↓ MATURITY You develop capacity. ↓ MANIFESTATION The assignment becomes increasingly visible. ↓ MULTIPLICATION What God has developed in you begins flowing through you to others. ↓ NEW LEVEL And another process begins. --- 33. PROCESS DOES NOT END AT ARRIVAL This is a revelation we must carry throughout this entire series. You don't finish becoming. You continue becoming. Peter went from fisherman to disciple. Then disciple to apostolic leader. Paul went from persecutor to apostle. David went from shepherd to king. But each new responsibility demanded another level of development. Therefore: «Every new level introduces a new version of you.» And often: New level = new process. --- 34. THE GREAT QUESTION Most people ask: «“When will I get there?”» But process teaches us to ask: «“Who must I become before I get there?”» Most people ask: «“Why is this taking so long?”» Ask: «“What is this season producing in me?”» Most people ask: «“Why am I still here?”» Ask: «“What am I supposed to learn here?”» Most people ask: «“When will God use me?”» Ask: «“What is God developing in me now?”» --- 35. THE PROCESS EQUATION Let this become one of the foundational formulas of the entire series: PROMISE God speaks. ↓ PROCESS God forms. ↓ PREPARATION God trains. ↓ TESTING God proves. ↓ MATURITY God establishes. ↓ MANIFESTATION God reveals. ↓ MULTIPLICATION God reproduces through you. And then: NEW LEVEL NEW PROCESS. --- 36. THE GREAT LESSON FROM THE EGG The egg teaches us something profound: The chick does not become mature by escaping development. It becomes mature by passing through development. The shell is not the enemy. The incubation is not the enemy. The waiting is not the enemy. The hiddenness is not the enemy. They are part of the journey. Likewise, the believer must learn to distinguish between: an enemy attacking your destiny and God developing your destiny. Not every pressure is persecution. Not every closed door is rejection. Not every waiting season is abandonment. Not every hidden season is stagnation. Sometimes: you are simply being processed. --- 37. FINAL CHARGE Beloved, don't despise the process. The seed must go into the ground. The gold must enter the fire. The building must have a foundation. The student must study. The athlete must train. The child must grow. The egg must develop. And the believer must mature. You may not understand everything happening in your present season. But don't be too quick to abandon it. There may be something God is building in you that your next season will require. Remember: «The promise tells you where you are going. The process determines who you become on the way there.» «God may give a calling in a moment, but He develops the carrier over time.» «What God starts instantly, He may develop progressively.» «Don't rush what God is forming.» «Don't compare your process with another person's manifestation.» «Don't force what God is preparing.» «Don't despise hidden seasons.» «Don't mistake preparation for punishment.» And above all: «Don't ask only, “When will I arrive?” Ask, “Who am I becoming?”» --- 🔥 DECLARATION I will not despise my process. I receive grace to trust God's dealings with me. I will not compare my journey with another person's journey. I will not force premature manifestation. I will remain teachable in seasons of preparation. I will remain faithful in small things. I will embrace correction. I will submit my character to the dealings of God. I will grow in wisdom, faith, discipline, patience and capacity. I will not mistake hiddenness for abandonment. I will not mistake waiting for denial. I will not mistake preparation for punishment. What God has begun in me, He will bring to completion. I will become the person capable of carrying what God has entrusted to me. My process has purpose. My waiting has purpose. My formation has purpose. My becoming has purpose. And when the appointed time comes, I will not only arrive— I will have the capacity to remain, reproduce and help others through their own process. PROCESS — THE JOURNEY OF BECOMING. Don't despise the process. Trust God in the process. Grow through the process. Become through the process.
