THE EGG: FORMATION BEFORE EMERGENCE
What God Does in You Before He Brings You Out
“What emerges publicly must first be formed privately.”
The egg is one of nature's beautiful pictures of process.
A chicken does not begin as a chicken walking around.
Its journey begins in a hidden place, through stages of formation and development. The egg itself is formed before fertilization; when fertilization occurs, embryonic development begins, and under suitable incubation conditions a chick normally hatches after about 21 days.
And then something remarkable happens:
The hatching is not the end of the process.
It is the beginning of another one.
The chick must grow.
It must develop.
It must mature.
Eventually, it becomes capable of reproduction.
And another cycle begins.
That is the picture we want to carry into the believer's journey.
1. THE FIRST LESSON: EVERYTHING HAS A PROCESS
We live in a generation that celebrates instant results.
Instant communication.
Instant transfers.
Instant downloads.
Instant information.
And unfortunately, we can begin expecting instant maturity.
But creation itself teaches us otherwise.
God designed many things to develop through stages.
A seed doesn't become a tree overnight.
A baby doesn't become an adult overnight.
A student doesn't become a master overnight.
And a believer doesn't become everything God has ordained overnight.
There is a process.
God can give you an encounter instantly, but He usually develops the implications of that encounter progressively.
2. THE EGG BEGINS WITH POTENTIAL
The yolk contains nutrients that will support embryonic development if the egg is fertilized.
But potential is not the same thing as manifestation.
That gives us our first spiritual principle:
POTENTIAL IS NOT MATURITY.
A person may have:
a prophetic word,
a gift,
anointing,
intelligence,
vision,
opportunity,
connections,
resources,
and still not have the maturity required to steward them.
Saul had potential.
David had potential.
Peter had potential.
Timothy had potential.
But potential needed development.
3. FORMATION HAPPENS BEFORE INCUBATION
Before an egg can become the environment in which a chick develops, the egg itself must be formed.
This is important because we often want to talk about birth without talking about formation.
But God works with stages.
There is:
Formation before development.
Development before emergence.
Emergence before maturity.
Maturity before reproduction.
And this pattern appears repeatedly throughout Scripture.
4. THE SHELL — A BOUNDARY
The shell provides protection and creates a controlled environment for development.
Spiritually, this gives us another picture:
Some seasons of limitation are actually seasons of protection.
You may look at a season and say:
“Why am I restricted?”
But perhaps the restriction is creating the environment required for development.
Not every boundary is a prison.
Not every limitation is an attack.
Some boundaries protect what is still developing.
Consider the believer's life.
Sometimes God restricts:
your exposure,
your access,
your movement,
your opportunities,
certain relationships,
certain platforms.
And you wonder:
“Why?”
Perhaps because what is inside you is not yet ready for unrestricted exposure.
5. THE INCUBATION SEASON
When a fertilized egg is properly incubated, development takes place inside.
This is the season we often struggle with spiritually.
Because incubation is hidden.
Nobody sees the embryo developing.
There is no applause.
No audience.
No platform.
No announcement.
Yet life is developing.
This is the hidden season.
And many believers become frustrated here.
They say:
“Nothing is happening.”
But perhaps the problem is that they are measuring visible activity instead of invisible development.
Remember:
Hidden does not mean inactive.
6. GOD DOES SOME OF HIS BEST WORK IN HIDDEN PLACES
David was hidden with sheep.
Joseph was hidden in prison.
Moses was hidden in Midian.
Jesus spent years in relative obscurity before His public ministry.
Paul experienced seasons of preparation before his wider apostolic ministry.
The hidden place is not necessarily the forgotten place.
Sometimes it is the formation room.
The world asks:
“Where are you?”
God may be asking:
“What are you becoming?”
7. THE 21-DAY PRINCIPLE
Under normal incubation conditions, a chicken egg takes approximately 21 days to hatch.
That number itself is not a spiritual formula.
We should not turn “21 days” into a doctrine or claim that every divine process must take a particular number of days.
The lesson is simpler:
Development has a timetable.
You cannot demand that day 7 look like day 21.
You cannot judge the final product from an incomplete stage.
And you cannot compare one stage with another.
Day 1 has its purpose.
Day 10 has its purpose.
Day 21 has its purpose.
The process is progressive.
8. DON'T EXPECT DAY 7 RESULTS FROM A DAY 3 PROCESS
This is where many believers become discouraged.
They are somewhere in the middle and become frustrated because they don't look like the final version of themselves.
But:
You are allowed to be in development.
A child should not be ashamed that he isn't an adult.
A seed should not be ashamed that it isn't a tree.
A chick should not be ashamed that it isn't yet a mature chicken.
Likewise:
Don't condemn yourself for not yet being who you are becoming.
Growth takes time.
9. DEVELOPMENT REQUIRES THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENT
Incubation requires suitable conditions.
Temperature matters.
Humidity matters.
Turning matters.
Protection matters.
Environment matters.
This gives us a powerful spiritual lesson:
What is developing in you requires an environment that supports development.
Who surrounds you matters.
What you consume matters.
What you repeatedly hear matters.
What you meditate on matters.
Where you spend your time matters.
What voices have access to you matters.
Proverbs 13:20
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise…”
Your environment can either support your process or fight your process.
10. NOT EVERYONE CAN ENTER YOUR INCUBATION ROOM
There are things God develops in you that require protection from premature exposure.
Not every dream should be announced immediately.
Not every revelation needs an audience.
Not every plan needs public validation.
Not every season needs to be explained.
Joseph told his brothers about his dreams, but their response became part of his painful journey.
There are times when wisdom says:
“Protect what is still developing.”
Jesus also had seasons of hiddenness.
Not everything He was becoming was publicly displayed.
11. THE HEAT OF INCUBATION
Incubation requires warmth.
And spiritually, some processes require pressure and heat.
This is where we must be careful.
Not every difficult circumstance is directly caused by God.
But God can use difficult circumstances to produce something in us.
James 1:2–4
The testing of faith produces patience.
Romans 5:3–4
Tribulation produces perseverance, character and hope.
The pressure may not be pleasant.
But what matters is what God produces through it.
The question isn't always “Why is there pressure?” but “What is the pressure producing?”
12. THE EMBRYO DOESN'T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS
This is a beautiful picture.
The developing chick does not understand the timetable.
It doesn't calculate:
“I'm on day 14; I should be emerging now.”
It simply develops according to the design placed within it.
But believers often become anxious because we want to understand every stage.
We ask:
When?
How?
Why?
Who?
Where?
Sometimes God gives us enough revelation for the next step, not enough information for the entire journey.
Proverbs 3:5
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
13. THE CHICK MUST DEVELOP BEFORE IT BREAKS THE SHELL
This is one of the strongest principles.
The chick doesn't break the shell because it is tired of waiting.
It emerges when development has reached the appropriate stage.
Spiritually:
There is a difference between:
Breaking out
and
Being ready to come out.
Some people force visibility.
Some force ministry.
Some force relationships.
Some force opportunities.
Some force leadership.
Some force doors.
But:
A door opening is not always evidence that you are ready for what is behind it.
14. PREMATURE EMERGENCE
This deserves special attention.
What happens when something emerges prematurely?
It may lack the strength required for the environment outside.
Likewise, premature spiritual emergence can look like:
Platform before preparation.
Authority before maturity.
Visibility before character.
Leadership before accountability.
Money before stewardship.
Marriage before emotional maturity.
Ministry before formation.
The lesson:
Don't ask God only to bring you out. Ask Him to make you ready to come out.
15. THE BREAKING OF THE SHELL
Eventually, the chick begins to emerge.
The shell that once protected it now becomes the boundary it must break through.
This is profound.
The same environment that protected you in one season may become too small for you in another.
There are seasons where God says:
Stay.
And there are seasons where God says:
Go.
The problem comes when we confuse the two.
Some people leave too early.
Others refuse to leave when the season has changed.
Discernment is knowing:
When to remain.
When to prepare.
When to emerge.
When to move.
16. EMERGENCE CAN BE DIFFICULT
Hatching is not simply:
“The shell opened and everything became easy.”
The chick has to work its way out.
This gives us a powerful picture of transition.
Sometimes your next season requires effort.
Sometimes you have to push.
Sometimes you have to persevere.
Sometimes what protected you previously must be broken.
Transition can be uncomfortable.
But discomfort doesn't automatically mean you're going backward.
Sometimes:
The discomfort is evidence that something new is emerging.
17. THE CHICK DOESN'T COME OUT FULLY MATURE
This may be the most important part of the illustration.
The chick hatches.
But it isn't a fully mature chicken.
Hatching is not maturity.
This means:
Manifestation is not the same as maturity.
You can finally receive the opportunity you've prayed for and still have much to learn.
You can enter ministry and still need development.
You can get married and still need emotional growth.
You can get the job and still need professional development.
You can receive influence and still need character development.
Don't confuse emergence with completion.
18. AFTER HATCHING, ANOTHER PROCESS BEGINS
The chick must:
Eat.
Grow.
Learn.
Develop.
Become stronger.
Reach maturity.
Eventually, the mature chicken can participate in reproduction.
And the cycle continues.
Spiritually:
Birth → Growth → Maturity → Reproduction
This is discipleship.
You are not mature merely because you have been born again.
You must grow.
1 Peter 2:2
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.”
The Bible does not only speak about being born.
It speaks about growing.
19. SALVATION IS AN ENTRANCE, NOT THE END OF DEVELOPMENT
The new birth is glorious.
But it is the beginning of a journey.
You are born spiritually.
Then you grow.
You learn Scripture.
You develop prayer.
You learn obedience.
You develop character.
You learn discernment.
You mature in Christ.
Ephesians 4:15
“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things…”
God wants believers to grow up.
Not merely gather experiences.
Not merely attend services.
Not merely receive prophetic words.
Grow.
20. THE CHICK MUST BE FED
After hatching, growth requires nourishment.
This is a powerful picture of spiritual feeding.
What feeds your spirit?
The Word.
Prayer.
Fellowship.
Sound teaching.
Obedience.
Worship.
Godly relationships.
Matthew 4:4
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
If something is alive but not properly nourished, development suffers.
Likewise:
A believer cannot remain spiritually healthy on occasional spiritual consumption.
There must be nourishment.
21. MATURITY PRODUCES RESPONSIBILITY
As the chick grows into maturity, its capabilities increase.
Likewise, spiritual maturity should produce greater responsibility.
Immaturity asks:
“What can God give me?”
Maturity asks:
“What can God entrust to me?”
Immaturity wants to be served.
Maturity learns to serve.
Immaturity wants a platform.
Maturity wants impact.
Immaturity wants recognition.
Maturity wants faithfulness.
Immaturity wants manifestation.
Maturity respects formation.
22. MATURITY PRODUCES REPRODUCTION
Eventually, the mature chicken participates in another generation.
And here the analogy becomes extremely powerful for ministry.
A mature believer should eventually become capable of helping others mature.
Paul to Timothy:
2 Timothy 2:2
“The same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
Look at the generations:
Paul → Timothy → Faithful men → Others
This is reproduction.
The goal of your process is not merely:
“I became.”
It is:
“What God developed in me can now help develop someone else.”
23. THE PROCESS CYCLE
We can now establish one of the recurring diagrams of this series:
POTENTIAL
Something is placed within you.
↓
FORMATION
You begin taking shape.
↓
INCUBATION
Hidden development takes place.
↓
EMERGENCE
You enter a new dimension.
↓
GROWTH
You develop capacity.
↓
MATURITY
You become established.
↓
REPRODUCTION
You begin producing and helping others.
↓
NEW CYCLE
And the process begins again.
24. REAL-LIFE SCENARIO — A MINISTER
Imagine someone who receives a call to ministry.
Stage 1:
They receive the encounter.
Stage 2:
They begin studying Scripture.
Stage 3:
They serve quietly.
Stage 4:
They learn under leadership.
Stage 5:
Their character is tested.
Stage 6:
They begin receiving small responsibilities.
Stage 7:
They become more capable.
Stage 8:
Their ministry expands.
Stage 9:
They begin discipling others.
That is process.
If they demand Stage 8 while refusing Stages 2–6, they may have visibility without sufficient formation.
25. REAL-LIFE SCENARIO — A CAREER
Someone wants to become a senior professional.
But there are stages:
Learning → Practice → Mistakes → Correction → Competence → Experience → Responsibility → Leadership
The person who hates being a beginner may never become an expert.
Why?
Because:
You cannot skip the stage where you learn what the next stage requires.
26. REAL-LIFE SCENARIO — RELATIONSHIPS
Someone desires marriage.
But marriage requires more than finding someone.
There is personal development:
Self-awareness → healing → communication → responsibility → sacrifice → emotional maturity → commitment
The question isn't only:
“Where is my spouse?”
It is also:
“Who am I becoming to be able to build a healthy marriage?”
Again:
Destination requires formation.
27. WHAT CAN INTERRUPT THE PROCESS?
Let's identify the enemies.
1. IMPATIENCE
You want the result immediately.
2. COMPARISON
You judge your development against another person's manifestation.
3. DISOBEDIENCE
You refuse the instruction attached to your season.
4. DISTRACTION
You lose focus on what God is developing.
5. WRONG ENVIRONMENT
You continually expose yourself to influences that oppose your growth.
6. PREMATURE EXPOSURE
You bring something into public view before it has sufficient foundation.
7. QUITTING
You abandon the process because it became uncomfortable.
28. WHAT DOES THE PROCESS REQUIRE?
PATIENT FAITH
Trust God while development is happening.
DISCIPLINE
Remain consistent.
PROTECTION
Guard what is still developing.
NOURISHMENT
Feed what God is growing in you.
OBEDIENCE
Follow divine instructions.
DISCERNMENT
Know what season you are in.
ENDURANCE
Don't quit because development takes time.
29. THE QUESTION OF YOUR CURRENT SEASON
Perhaps you're asking:
“Why am I not where I want to be?”
Maybe the better question is:
“What stage am I actually in?”
Are you in:
Formation?
Incubation?
Preparation?
Testing?
Emergence?
Growth?
Maturity?
Reproduction?
Because your responsibility changes according to the stage.
You don't feed an egg the way you feed a chick.
You don't train a beginner the same way you train a master.
You don't give a child the responsibility of an adult.
Therefore:
You must know what your present season requires.
30. DON'T HATE YOUR SHELL
Your shell may represent:
Hiddenness.
Protection.
Restriction.
Preparation.
Limited exposure.
A controlled environment.
Don't automatically curse it.
There was a time when the shell was necessary.
But there will also come a time when remaining inside becomes contrary to your development.
So ask God:
“Is this my season of protection, preparation or emergence?”
31. DON'T BREAK YOUR OWN SHELL
This is a warning.
Don't manufacture an emergence God has not authorized.
Don't force visibility.
Don't manipulate opportunities.
Don't compromise your values to become successful faster.
Don't imitate another person's journey.
Don't rush maturity.
Because:
You may get outside the shell and discover that you were not ready for the environment outside it.
32. DON'T STAY IN THE SHELL AFTER THE SEASON HAS ENDED
There is another danger.
Some believers become so comfortable with preparation that they become afraid of manifestation.
They say:
“I'm still preparing.”
Years pass.
God has opened the door.
The opportunity has arrived.
The assignment is clear.
But fear keeps them hidden.
Preparation has an expiration point.
There comes a time when:
Preparation must become participation.
Learning must become application.
Formation must become manifestation.
Growth must become responsibility.
33. THE SHELL IS NOT YOUR DESTINATION
This deserves to be written deeply into our spirit:
The shell is a season, not an identity.
You may be hidden today.
But hiddenness is not your permanent identity.
You may be learning today.
But learning is not your final destination.
You may be small today.
But smallness is not necessarily your final capacity.
God develops.
God grows.
God matures.
God releases.
34. AND THEN ANOTHER CYCLE BEGINS
This is where many people misunderstand growth.
They think:
“Once I hatch, I'm done.”
No.
The chick must grow.
Then mature.
Then reproduce.
And another cycle begins.
Likewise, after one major breakthrough:
New responsibility.
After one level of maturity:
New lessons.
After one manifestation:
New stewardship.
After one assignment:
Another assignment.
Therefore:
Arrival is not the end of process.
It is often the beginning of another level.
35. THE DEEPER SPIRITUAL REVELATION
The egg teaches us something profound:
God can hide something from the world while developing something for the world.
Nobody sees the chick while it is developing.
But eventually the shell opens.
And what was hidden becomes visible.
This means your hidden season may contain something that will eventually bless people publicly.
Joseph was hidden.
David was hidden.
Moses was hidden.
Jesus was hidden.
Hiddenness can be preparation for usefulness.
36. THE PROCESS OF BECOMING
So what is God doing in your process?
He may be taking you:
From potential → capacity.
From knowledge → wisdom.
From gift → character.
From encounter → relationship.
From passion → discipline.
From dependence → maturity.
From receiving → stewardship.
From being discipled → discipling.
From being blessed → becoming a blessing.
FINAL CHARGE
Don't be frustrated because you are still developing.
Don't despise the hidden season.
Don't force the shell.
Don't compare your timeline.
Don't mistake incubation for inactivity.
Don't mistake hatching for maturity.
Don't mistake maturity for the end.
There is a process.
And every stage has a purpose.
The egg is not the chicken.
The chick is not the mature chicken.
Hatching is not maturity.
Maturity is not the end.
Because eventually:
Maturity produces reproduction.
And reproduction begins another cycle.
That is the believer's journey too.
DECLARATION
I receive grace for my process.
I will not despise my hidden season.
I will not force premature manifestation.
I will not compare my development with another person's emergence.
I will protect what God is developing in me.
I will remain nourished by the Word.
I will remain obedient.
I will remain teachable.
I will remain patient.
I will grow in wisdom, character, faith and capacity.
When it is time to emerge, I will not remain hidden because of fear.
When I emerge, I will remember that emergence is not maturity.
I will continue to grow.
I will become established.
And when maturity comes, what God has developed in me will become useful to others.
**I will not only become.
I will reproduce.
I will disciple.
I will strengthen.
I will build.
I will help others through their process.**
And when one season ends,
I will have grace for the next process.

It simply develops according to the design placed within it.
But believers often become anxious because we want to understand every stage.
We ask:
When?
How?
Why?
Who?
Where?
Sometimes God gives us enough revelation for the next step, not enough information for the entire journey.
Proverbs 3:5
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
13. THE CHICK MUST DEVELOP BEFORE IT BREAKS THE SHELL
This is one of the strongest principles.
The chick doesn't break the shell because it is tired of waiting.
It emerges when development has reached the appropriate stage.
Spiritually:
There is a difference between:
Breaking out
and
Being ready to come out.
Some people force visibility.
Some force ministry.
Some force relationships.
Some force opportunities.
Some force leadership.
Some force doors.
But:
A door opening is not always evidence that you are ready for what is behind it.
14. PREMATURE EMERGENCE
This deserves special attention.
What happens when something emerges prematurely?
It may lack the strength required for the environment outside.
Likewise, premature spiritual emergence can look like:
Platform before preparation.
Authority before maturity.
Visibility before character.
Leadership before accountability.
Money before stewardship.
Marriage before emotional maturity.
Ministry before formation.
The lesson:
Don't ask God only to bring you out. Ask Him to make you ready to come out.
15. THE BREAKING OF THE SHELL
Eventually, the chick begins to emerge.
The shell that once protected it now becomes the boundary it must break through.
This is profound.
The same environment that protected you in one season may become too small for you in another.
There are seasons where God says:
Stay.
And there are seasons where God says:
Go.
The problem comes when we confuse the two.
Some people leave too early.
Others refuse to leave when the season has changed.
Discernment is knowing:
When to remain.
When to prepare.
When to emerge.
When to move.
16. EMERGENCE CAN BE DIFFICULT
Hatching is not simply:
“The shell opened and everything became easy.”
The chick has to work its way out.
This gives us a powerful picture of transition.
Sometimes your next season requires effort.
Sometimes you have to push.
Sometimes you have to persevere.
Sometimes what protected you previously must be broken.
Transition can be uncomfortable.
But discomfort doesn't automatically mean you're going backward.
Sometimes:
The discomfort is evidence that something new is emerging.
17. THE CHICK DOESN'T COME OUT FULLY MATURE
This may be the most important part of the illustration.
The chick hatches.
But it isn't a fully mature chicken.
Hatching is not maturity.
This means:
Manifestation is not the same as maturity.
You can finally receive the opportunity you've prayed for and still have much to learn.
You can enter ministry and still need development.
You can get married and still need emotional growth.
You can get the job and still need professional development.
You can receive influence and still need character development.
Don't confuse emergence with completion.
18. AFTER HATCHING, ANOTHER PROCESS BEGINS
The chick must:
Eat.
Grow.
Learn.
Develop.
Become stronger.
Reach maturity.
Eventually, the mature chicken can participate in reproduction.
And the cycle continues.
Spiritually:
Birth → Growth → Maturity → Reproduction
This is discipleship.
You are not mature merely because you have been born again.
You must grow.

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.”
The Bible does not only speak about being born.
It speaks about growing.
19. SALVATION IS AN ENTRANCE, NOT THE END OF DEVELOPMENT
The new birth is glorious.
But it is the beginning of a journey.
You are born spiritually.
Then you grow.
You learn Scripture.
You develop prayer.
You learn obedience.
You develop character.
You learn discernment.
You mature in Christ.
Ephesians 4:15
“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things…”
God wants believers to grow up.
Not merely gather experiences.
Not merely attend services.
Not merely receive prophetic words.
Grow.
20. THE CHICK MUST BE FED
After hatching, growth requires nourishment.
This is a powerful picture of spiritual feeding.
What feeds your spirit?
The Word.
Prayer.
Fellowship.
Sound teaching.
Obedience.
Worship.
Godly relationships.

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
If something is alive but not properly nourished, development suffers.
Likewise:
A believer cannot remain spiritually healthy on occasional spiritual consumption.
There must be nourishment.
21. MATURITY PRODUCES RESPONSIBILITY
As the chick grows into maturity, its capabilities increase.
Likewise, spiritual maturity should produce greater responsibility.
Immaturity asks:
“What can God give me?”
Maturity asks:
“What can God entrust to me?”
Immaturity wants to be served.
Maturity learns to serve.
Immaturity wants a platform.
Maturity wants impact.
Immaturity wants recognition.
Maturity wants faithfulness.
Immaturity wants manifestation.
Maturity respects formation.
22. MATURITY PRODUCES REPRODUCTION
Eventually, the mature chicken participates in another generation.
And here the analogy becomes extremely powerful for ministry.
A mature believer should eventually become capable of helping others mature.
Paul to Timothy:

“The same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
Look at the generations:
Paul → Timothy → Faithful men → Others
This is reproduction.
The goal of your process is not merely:
“I became.”
It is:
“What God developed in me can now help develop someone else.”

Someone wants to become a senior professional.

Learning → Practice → Mistakes → Correction → Competence → Experience → Responsibility → Leadership
The person who hates being a beginner may never become an expert.
Why?
Because:
You cannot skip the stage where you learn what the next stage requires.
26. REAL-LIFE SCENARIO — RELATIONSHIPS
Someone desires marriage.
But marriage requires more than finding someone.
There is personal development:
Self-awareness → healing → communication → responsibility → sacrifice → emotional maturity → commitment
The question isn't only:
“Where is my spouse?”
It is also:
“Who am I becoming to be able to build a healthy marriage?”
Again:
Destination requires formation.
27. WHAT CAN INTERRUPT THE PROCESS?
Let's identify the enemies.
1. IMPATIENCE
You want the result immediately.
2. COMPARISON
You judge your development against another person's manifestation.
3. DISOBEDIENCE
You refuse the instruction attached to your season.
4. DISTRACTION
You lose focus on what God is developing.
5. WRONG ENVIRONMENT
You continually expose yourself to influences that oppose your growth.
6. PREMATURE EXPOSURE
You bring something into public view before it has sufficient foundation.
7. QUITTING
You abandon the process because it became uncomfortable.
28. WHAT DOES THE PROCESS REQUIRE?
PATIENT FAITH
Trust God while development is happening.
DISCIPLINE
Remain consistent.
PROTECTION
Guard what is still developing.
NOURISHMENT
Feed what God is growing in you.
OBEDIENCE
Follow divine instructions.
DISCERNMENT
Know what season you are in.
ENDURANCE
Don't quit because development takes time.
29. THE QUESTION OF YOUR CURRENT SEASON
Perhaps you're asking:
“Why am I not where I want to be?”
Maybe the better question is:
“What stage am I actually in?”
Are you in:
Formation?
Incubation?
Preparation?
Testing?
Emergence?
Growth?
Maturity?
Reproduction?
Because your responsibility changes according to the stage.
You don't feed an egg the way you feed a chick.
You don't train a beginner the same way you train a master.
You don't give a child the responsibility of an adult.
Therefore:
You must know what your present season requires.
30. DON'T HATE YOUR SHELL
Your shell may represent:
Hiddenness.
Protection.
Restriction.
Preparation.
Limited exposure.
A controlled environment.
Don't automatically curse it.
There was a time when the shell was necessary.
But there will also come a time when remaining inside becomes contrary to your development.
So ask God:
“Is this my season of protection, preparation or emergence?”
31. DON'T BREAK YOUR OWN SHELL
This is a warning.
Don't manufacture an emergence God has not authorized.
Don't force visibility.
Don't manipulate opportunities.
Don't compromise your values to become successful faster.
Don't imitate another person's journey.
Don't rush maturity.
Because:
You may get outside the shell and discover that you were not ready for the environment outside it.
32. DON'T STAY IN THE SHELL AFTER THE SEASON HAS ENDED
There is another danger.
Some believers become so comfortable with preparation that they become afraid of manifestation.
They say:
“I'm still preparing.”
Years pass.
God has opened the door.
The opportunity has arrived.
The assignment is clear.
But fear keeps them hidden.
Preparation has an expiration point.
There comes a time when:
Preparation must become participation.
Learning must become application.
Formation must become manifestation.
Growth must become responsibility.
33. THE SHELL IS NOT YOUR DESTINATION
This deserves to be written deeply into our spirit:
The shell is a season, not an identity.
You may be hidden today.
But hiddenness is not your permanent identity.
You may be learning today.
But learning is not your final destination.
You may be small today.
But smallness is not necessarily your final capacity.
God develops.
God grows.
God matures.
God releases.
34. AND THEN ANOTHER CYCLE BEGINS
This is where many people misunderstand growth.
They think:
“Once I hatch, I'm done.”
No.
The chick must grow.
Then mature.
Then reproduce.
And another cycle begins.
Likewise, after one major breakthrough:
New responsibility.
After one level of maturity:
New lessons.
After one manifestation:
New stewardship.
After one assignment:
Another assignment.
Therefore:
Arrival is not the end of process.
It is often the beginning of another level.
35. THE DEEPER SPIRITUAL REVELATION
The egg teaches us something profound:
God can hide something from the world while developing something for the world.
Nobody sees the chick while it is developing.
But eventually the shell opens.
And what was hidden becomes visible.
This means your hidden season may contain something that will eventually bless people publicly.
Joseph was hidden.
David was hidden.
Moses was hidden.
Jesus was hidden.
Hiddenness can be preparation for usefulness.
36. THE PROCESS OF BECOMING
So what is God doing in your process?
He may be taking you:
From potential → capacity.
From knowledge → wisdom.
From gift → character.
From encounter → relationship.
From passion → discipline.
From dependence → maturity.
From receiving → stewardship.
From being discipled → discipling.
From being blessed → becoming a blessing.
FINAL CHARGE
Don't be frustrated because you are still developing.
Don't despise the hidden season.
Don't force the shell.
Don't compare your timeline.
Don't mistake incubation for inactivity.
Don't mistake hatching for maturity.
Don't mistake maturity for the end.
There is a process.
And every stage has a purpose.
The egg is not the chicken.
The chick is not the mature chicken.
Hatching is not maturity.
Maturity is not the end.
Because eventually:
Maturity produces reproduction.
And reproduction begins another cycle.
That is the believer's journey too.
DECLARATION
I receive grace for my process.
I will not despise my hidden season.
I will not force premature manifestation.
I will not compare my development with another person's emergence.
I will protect what God is developing in me.
I will remain nourished by the Word.
I will remain obedient.
I will remain teachable.
I will remain patient.
I will grow in wisdom, character, faith and capacity.
When it is time to emerge, I will not remain hidden because of fear.
When I emerge, I will remember that emergence is not maturity.
I will continue to grow.
I will become established.
And when maturity comes, what God has developed in me will become useful to others.

I will reproduce.
I will disciple.
I will strengthen.
I will build.
I will help others through their process.**
And when one season ends,
I will have grace for the next process.

The egg is one of nature's beautiful pictures of process.
A chicken does not begin as a chicken walking around.
Its journey begins in a hidden place, through stages of formation and development. The egg itself is formed before fertilization; when fertilization occurs, embryonic development begins, and under suitable incubation conditions a chick normally hatches after about 21 days.
And then something remarkable happens:
The hatching is not the end of the process.
It is the beginning of another one.
The chick must grow.
It must develop.
It must mature.
Eventually, it becomes capable of reproduction.
And another cycle begins.
That is the picture we want to carry into the believer's journey.
1. THE FIRST LESSON: EVERYTHING HAS A PROCESS
We live in a generation that celebrates instant results.
Instant communication.
Instant transfers.
Instant downloads.
Instant information.
And unfortunately, we can begin expecting instant maturity.
But creation itself teaches us otherwise.
God designed many things to develop through stages.
A seed doesn't become a tree overnight.
A baby doesn't become an adult overnight.
A student doesn't become a master overnight.
And a believer doesn't become everything God has ordained overnight.
There is a process.
God can give you an encounter instantly, but He usually develops the implications of that encounter progressively.
2. THE EGG BEGINS WITH POTENTIAL
The yolk contains nutrients that will support embryonic development if the egg is fertilized.
But potential is not the same thing as manifestation.
That gives us our first spiritual principle:
POTENTIAL IS NOT MATURITY.
A person may have:
a prophetic word,
a gift,
anointing,
intelligence,
vision,
opportunity,
connections,
resources,
and still not have the maturity required to steward them.
Saul had potential.
David had potential.
Peter had potential.
Timothy had potential.
But potential needed development.
3. FORMATION HAPPENS BEFORE INCUBATION
Before an egg can become the environment in which a chick develops, the egg itself must be formed.
This is important because we often want to talk about birth without talking about formation.
But God works with stages.
There is:
Formation before development.
Development before emergence.
Emergence before maturity.
Maturity before reproduction.
And this pattern appears repeatedly throughout Scripture.
4. THE SHELL — A BOUNDARY
The shell provides protection and creates a controlled environment for development.
Spiritually, this gives us another picture:
Some seasons of limitation are actually seasons of protection.
You may look at a season and say:
“Why am I restricted?”
But perhaps the restriction is creating the environment required for development.
Not every boundary is a prison.
Not every limitation is an attack.
Some boundaries protect what is still developing.
Consider the believer's life.
Sometimes God restricts:
your exposure,
your access,
your movement,
your opportunities,
certain relationships,
certain platforms.
And you wonder:
“Why?”
Perhaps because what is inside you is not yet ready for unrestricted exposure.
5. THE INCUBATION SEASON
When a fertilized egg is properly incubated, development takes place inside.
This is the season we often struggle with spiritually.
Because incubation is hidden.
Nobody sees the embryo developing.
There is no applause.
No audience.
No platform.
No announcement.
Yet life is developing.
This is the hidden season.
And many believers become frustrated here.
They say:
“Nothing is happening.”
But perhaps the problem is that they are measuring visible activity instead of invisible development.
Remember:
Hidden does not mean inactive.
6. GOD DOES SOME OF HIS BEST WORK IN HIDDEN PLACES
David was hidden with sheep.
Joseph was hidden in prison.
Moses was hidden in Midian.
Jesus spent years in relative obscurity before His public ministry.
Paul experienced seasons of preparation before his wider apostolic ministry.
The hidden place is not necessarily the forgotten place.
Sometimes it is the formation room.
The world asks:
“Where are you?”
God may be asking:
“What are you becoming?”
7. THE 21-DAY PRINCIPLE
Under normal incubation conditions, a chicken egg takes approximately 21 days to hatch.
That number itself is not a spiritual formula.
We should not turn “21 days” into a doctrine or claim that every divine process must take a particular number of days.
The lesson is simpler:
Development has a timetable.
You cannot demand that day 7 look like day 21.
You cannot judge the final product from an incomplete stage.
And you cannot compare one stage with another.
Day 1 has its purpose.
Day 10 has its purpose.
Day 21 has its purpose.
The process is progressive.
8. DON'T EXPECT DAY 7 RESULTS FROM A DAY 3 PROCESS
This is where many believers become discouraged.
They are somewhere in the middle and become frustrated because they don't look like the final version of themselves.
But:
You are allowed to be in development.
A child should not be ashamed that he isn't an adult.
A seed should not be ashamed that it isn't a tree.
A chick should not be ashamed that it isn't yet a mature chicken.
Likewise:
Don't condemn yourself for not yet being who you are becoming.
Growth takes time.
9. DEVELOPMENT REQUIRES THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENT
Incubation requires suitable conditions.
Temperature matters.
Humidity matters.
Turning matters.
Protection matters.
Environment matters.
This gives us a powerful spiritual lesson:
What is developing in you requires an environment that supports development.
Who surrounds you matters.
What you consume matters.
What you repeatedly hear matters.
What you meditate on matters.
Where you spend your time matters.
What voices have access to you matters.
Proverbs 13:20
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise…”
Your environment can either support your process or fight your process.
10. NOT EVERYONE CAN ENTER YOUR INCUBATION ROOM
There are things God develops in you that require protection from premature exposure.
Not every dream should be announced immediately.
Not every revelation needs an audience.
Not every plan needs public validation.
Not every season needs to be explained.
Joseph told his brothers about his dreams, but their response became part of his painful journey.
There are times when wisdom says:
“Protect what is still developing.”
Jesus also had seasons of hiddenness.
Not everything He was becoming was publicly displayed.
11. THE HEAT OF INCUBATION
Incubation requires warmth.
And spiritually, some processes require pressure and heat.
This is where we must be careful.
Not every difficult circumstance is directly caused by God.
But God can use difficult circumstances to produce something in us.
James 1:2–4
The testing of faith produces patience.
Romans 5:3–4
Tribulation produces perseverance, character and hope.
The pressure may not be pleasant.
But what matters is what God produces through it.
The question isn't always “Why is there pressure?” but “What is the pressure producing?”
12. THE EMBRYO DOESN'T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS
This is a beautiful picture.
The developing chick does not understand the timetable.
It doesn't calculate:
“I'm on day 14; I should be emerging now.”
It simply develops according to the design placed within it.

“Who am I becoming to be able to build a healthy marriage?”

Destination requires formation.
27. WHAT CAN INTERRUPT THE PROCESS?
Let's identify the enemies.
1. IMPATIENCE
You want the result immediately.
2. COMPARISON
You judge your development against another person's manifestation.
3. DISOBEDIENCE
You refuse the instruction attached to your season.
4. DISTRACTION
You lose focus on what God is developing.
5. WRONG ENVIRONMENT
You continually expose yourself to influences that oppose your growth.
6. PREMATURE EXPOSURE
You bring something into public view before it has sufficient foundation.
7. QUITTING
You abandon the process because it became uncomfortable.
28. WHAT DOES THE PROCESS REQUIRE?
PATIENT FAITH
Trust God while development is happening.
DISCIPLINE
Remain consistent.
PROTECTION
Guard what is still developing.
NOURISHMENT
Feed what God is growing in you.
OBEDIENCE
Follow divine instructions.
DISCERNMENT
Know what season you are in.
ENDURANCE
Don't quit because development takes time.
29. THE QUESTION OF YOUR CURRENT SEASON
Perhaps you're asking:
“Why am I not where I want to be?”
Maybe the better question is:
“What stage am I actually in?”
Are you in:
Formation?
Incubation?
Preparation?
Testing?
Emergence?
Growth?
Maturity?
Reproduction?
Because your responsibility changes according to the stage.
You don't feed an egg the way you feed a chick.
You don't train a beginner the same way you train a master.
You don't give a child the responsibility of an adult.
Therefore:
You must know what your present season requires.
30. DON'T HATE YOUR SHELL
Your shell may represent:
Hiddenness.
Protection.
Restriction.
Preparation.
Limited exposure.
A controlled environment.
Don't automatically curse it.
There was a time when the shell was necessary.
But there will also come a time when remaining inside becomes contrary to your development.
So ask God:
“Is this my season of protection, preparation or emergence?”
31. DON'T BREAK YOUR OWN SHELL
This is a warning.
Don't manufacture an emergence God has not authorized.
Don't force visibility.
Don't manipulate opportunities.
Don't compromise your values to become successful faster.
Don't imitate another person's journey.
Don't rush maturity.
Because:
You may get outside the shell and discover that you were not ready for the environment outside it.
32. DON'T STAY IN THE SHELL AFTER THE SEASON HAS ENDED
There is another danger.
Some believers become so comfortable with preparation that they become afraid of manifestation.
They say:
“I'm still preparing.”
Years pass.
God has opened the door.
The opportunity has arrived.
The assignment is clear.
But fear keeps them hidden.
Preparation has an expiration point.
There comes a time when:
Preparation must become participation.
Learning must become application.
Formation must become manifestation.
Growth must become responsibility.
33. THE SHELL IS NOT YOUR DESTINATION
This deserves to be written deeply into our spirit:
The shell is a season, not an identity.
You may be hidden today.
But hiddenness is not your permanent identity.
You may be learning today.
But learning is not your final destination.
You may be small today.
But smallness is not necessarily your final capacity.
God develops.
God grows.
God matures.
God releases.
34. AND THEN ANOTHER CYCLE BEGINS
This is where many people misunderstand growth.
They think:
“Once I hatch, I'm done.”
No.
The chick must grow.
Then mature.
Then reproduce.
And another cycle begins.
Likewise, after one major breakthrough:
New responsibility.
After one level of maturity:
New lessons.
After one manifestation:
New stewardship.
After one assignment:
Another assignment.
Therefore:
Arrival is not the end of process.
It is often the beginning of another level.
35. THE DEEPER SPIRITUAL REVELATION
The egg teaches us something profound:
God can hide something from the world while developing something for the world.
Nobody sees the chick while it is developing.
But eventually the shell opens.
And what was hidden becomes visible.
This means your hidden season may contain something that will eventually bless people publicly.
Joseph was hidden.
David was hidden.
Moses was hidden.
Jesus was hidden.
Hiddenness can be preparation for usefulness.
36. THE PROCESS OF BECOMING
So what is God doing in your process?
He may be taking you:
From potential → capacity.
From knowledge → wisdom.
From gift → character.
From encounter → relationship.
From passion → discipline.
From dependence → maturity.
From receiving → stewardship.
From being discipled → discipling.
From being blessed → becoming a blessing.
🔥 FINAL CHARGE
Don't be frustrated because you are still developing.
Don't despise the hidden season.
Don't force the shell.
Don't compare your timeline.
Don't mistake incubation for inactivity.
Don't mistake hatching for maturity.
Don't mistake maturity for the end.
There is a process.
And every stage has a purpose.
The egg is not the chicken.
The chick is not the mature chicken.
Hatching is not maturity.
Maturity is not the end.
Because eventually:
Maturity produces reproduction.
And reproduction begins another cycle.
That is the believer's journey too.
🔥 DECLARATION
I receive grace for my process.
I will not despise my hidden season.
I will not force premature manifestation.
I will not compare my development with another person's emergence.
I will protect what God is developing in me.
I will remain nourished by the Word.
I will remain obedient.
I will remain teachable.
I will remain patient.
I will grow in wisdom, character, faith and capacity.
When it is time to emerge, I will not remain hidden because of fear.
When I emerge, I will remember that emergence is not maturity.
I will continue to grow.
I will become established.
And when maturity comes, what God has developed in me will become useful to others.
**I will not only become.
I will reproduce.
I will disciple.
I will strengthen.
I will build.
I will help others through their process.**
And when one season ends,
I will have grace for the next process.
