The part of Psalm 32:8 I tend to hear is, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go.” I hear that and start looking for a map.

But the verse continues: “I will counsel you with My eye upon you.” A map can be handed over and carried alone. His eye upon me means He stays close.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” settles who gets the final say. And “lean not on your own understanding” doesn’t mean I stop thinking. It means I don’t put all my weight on what I can see.

So I pray, stay in His Word, and take the step in front of me. There are steps I took years ago I’m still not completely certain about.

He rarely hands me the whole road. He asks me to walk it with Him.
