LESSON: 1 CHRONICLES 4:9-10

TOPIC: GOD, CHANGE MY ALGORITHM
TEXT:
“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he required 1 CHRONICLES 4:9–10. (NKJV)

INTRODUCTION:
An algorithm is a system that follows patterns and instructions to determine what happens next. In today's digital world, what you repeatedly watch, search for, or interact with can influence what keeps appearing on your screen. Life can sometimes feel the same way. You experience one disappointment after another, one delay after another, one failed opportunity after another, and you begin to wonder, “Why does this keep happening?”

Today, we are looking at Jabez, a man who refused to allow a painful beginning to determine his entire story. His prayer was essentially: “Lord, change my pattern. Change my story. Change my trajectory.”. And that is our prayer today: “GOD, CHANGE MY ALGORITHM!”. Be immensely blessed by the word in Jesus powerful name .

EXPOSITION 1.
RECOGNIZE THE PATTERN THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE: The Bible says in 1 Chronicles 4:9:
“And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.” Jabez had a painful beginning. Even his name carried the memory of sorrow. But notice something important: his beginning was painful, but his character was honourable. This teaches us that your circumstances may describe what you have been through, but they do not necessarily describe who you are.

Sometimes, what we need to confront is not one particular problem but a recurring pattern. You keep starting but never finishing. You keep getting close to breakthrough and then encountering another obstacle. You keep entering relationships that end in disappointment. You keep making progress and somehow returning to the same place. You keep asking yourself, “Why me?”

Beloved, there comes a time when we must stop merely complaining about the pattern and begin asking God for wisdom concerning the pattern. What keeps repeating in my life? What needs to change? And let me make this clear: not every repeated difficulty is caused by a spiritual force. Sometimes the pattern may involve our decisions, habits, environment, relationships, or lack of wisdom. That is why we need God.

Because sometimes God changes the situation, and sometimes God changes us so that we can stop producing the same result. Jabez recognized that his story needed divine intervention. And he called upon God. You cannot change a pattern you refuse to recognize.

EXPOSITION 2:
DON'T ALLOW YOUR HISTORY TO PROGRAM YOUR FUTURE. Jabez's name was connected to sorrow. Imagine growing up with a name that constantly reminded you of pain. But Jabez refused to let the meaning of his name become the meaning of his entire life. This is where the message becomes personal. Some people are still allowing yesterday to program tomorrow. Because you failed before, you believe you will always fail. Because somebody rejected you, you believe nobody will ever accept you. Because one business failed, you believe you can never succeed. Because you experienced disappointment, you have stopped expecting good things.

But hear this: Your past may explain where you came from, but it does not have the authority to determine where God is taking you. The enemy wants you to look backward and conclude that nothing can change. But God specializes in new beginnings. Isaiah 43:19 says: “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth...” God can introduce a new thing into an old story. And sometimes the algorithm that needs to change is not around you. It is inside you.

God may need to change your thinking. Change your expectations. Change your associations. Change your priorities. Change your approach. Change the way you respond to disappointment. Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Because when your mind changes, your perspective changes. When your perspective changes, your decisions can change. And when your decisions change, your direction can change. Don't let yesterday become the software controlling tomorrow. You are not condemned to repeat every chapter you have already lived.

EXPOSITION 3:
CALL ON GOD TO WRITE A NEW PATTERN: Now Jabez did something that changed everything. He prayed. He said: “Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast...” Jabez didn't simply ask God to remove his problems. He asked God to change the trajectory of his life. He asked for God's blessing. He asked for enlargement. Then he said: “...and that thine hand might be with me...”. This is powerful. Jabez understood that he didn't just need more. He needed God's hand.

Because more money without God's wisdom can create more problems. More opportunities without God's direction can take you into the wrong place. More influence without character can destroy a person. So Jabez prayed: “Lord, let Your hand be with me.” Then he asked: “...keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me.” In other words: “Lord, don't just change what I see. Change what surrounds me. Protect me from what can destroy the blessing You are giving me.” And then comes the beautiful conclusion: “And God granted him that which he requested.” What a testimony! Jabez's story did not end according to the pain of his beginning. Prayer interrupted the pattern.

Beloved, that is why you must never underestimate the power of calling upon God. When you don't know what to change, ask God. When you don't know where to turn, ask God. When the same problem keeps appearing, ask God for wisdom. When you have tried everything you know and still cannot see a way forward, call upon the Lord. Your prayer today can be: “Lord, change my algorithm!” Change the cycle. Change my thinking. Change my direction. Change my relationships. Change my decisions. Change my opportunities. Change whatever needs to change so that my life can align with Your purpose… And above everything else: “Let Your hand be upon me.”

CONCLUSION:
GIVE ME A NEW BEGINNING TODAY : Beloved, Jabez teaches us one powerful lesson, A painful beginning does not require a painful ending. You may have experienced the same pattern for years, but that does not mean it must continue forever. God can give you a new beginning. So today, don't simply say, “This is my life.” Call upon God. Say, “Lord, change my algorithm!”. Let my next season not be a repetition of my last season. Let my story change. Let my direction change. Let my testimony change. And let everything bring glory to God. Amen.

PROPHETIC PRAYER:
Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray for everyone receiving this Word. Lord, change their algorithm! Break every negative cycle that has continued from season to season. Where there has been repeated disappointment, release a new testimony. Where there has been stagnation, release divine movement. Where there has been confusion, release wisdom and direction. Where wrong relationships have brought pain, give divine discernment and healthy connections.

Where repeated mistakes have produced repeated results, give the grace to make better decisions. Father, renew their minds and redirect their steps. Close every door that is not aligned with Your purpose and open the doors You have ordained for them. Let their next season not be a repetition of their last season. Change the pattern. Change the direction. Change the story. Let there be undeniable evidence that You have heard their prayer. Just as You answered Jabez, let somebody testify: “I called upon the Lord, and God changed my story!” In Jesus' mighty name, Amen!

PROPHETIC DECLARATION.
May the Lord change every negative pattern working against your peace, progress and purpose. May He turn your sorrow into testimony, your delay into divine timing, and your disappointment into celebration. May your next chapter be greater than your previous chapter. And may your testimony be:“God changed my algorithm, and He changed my story!” In Jesus' POWERFUL name, Amen.

HAPPY WONDERFUL SUNDAY,
