THE FLOATING AXE head is a biblical miracle from 2 Kings 6:1-7 where the prophet Elisha makes a heavy iron axe head float to the surface of the Jordan River. A group of prophets working with Elisha needed more space and went to the Jordan River to cut down trees for a new building. While one man was chopping wood, his iron axe head flew off the handle and sank into the deep water. The man cried out in panic because the axe was borrowed. In ancient times, iron was rare, expensive and a heavy financial burden to replace. Elisha asked where it fell, cut a piece of wood (a stick) and threw it into the water at that exact spot, causing the heavy iron to float. Elisha then told the man to grab it and he safely retrieved it.
