Deuteronomy 8:1-3 (KJV) All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.
And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Holiness defined

Holiness is not rapture: it is the entire surrender of the will to God; it is living by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God; it is doing the will of our heavenly Father; it is frosting in God in trial, in darkness as well as the light; it is walking by faith and not by sight; it is relying on God in unquestioning confidence and resting in His love.

Matthew 4:1-11 (KJV) Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Tempted just as we are

If we have in any sense of trying conflicted then had Chris, then He would not be able to succor us. But Our Savior tom our humanity, with all its liabilities. He took nature of man with the possibility of yeilding to temptation. We have nothing to bear that He has not endured.

A lesson in self-control

Of all the lessons to be learned of the Lord's first graet temptation none is more important than the bearing upon the control of the appetites of passions. In all ages temptations is appealing to the physical nature have been more effectual in croupting and degrading mankind.

"As you can see we don't live on just the food of man but by the living word of God. Jesus was fasting the Biblebsays 40 day and nights but he was also very hungry and Satan knew it, thats why he did this, but Jesus came back with scripture ( the word of God)and was able to resist that temptation because of His fasting and being in communication with His Father. And the fasting helped Him in the line of cummication, because He was able to deny His flesh. So try fasting some day, not for 40 days but maybe a day or two and that doesn't just mean food it can be anything that comes between you and God and helps with your communication with Him and denying the flesh is a great way to help you with getting closer with the savior.

Fasting and Prayer for Protection
21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions. 22 For I was ashamed to request of the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road, because we had spoken to the king, saying, “The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.” 23 So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer.
