THE CRUCIFIXION AT JACOB'S WELL - THE PARALLELS UNVEILED

[John 4:1,3-6]
[1] When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
[3] He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
[4] And he must needs go through Samaria.
[6] Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

- Jesus left Judaea to avoid the contentions the Pharisees were seeking to create between John's Disciples and Himself because of His popularity. On the way to Galilee, he stopped in Samaria.
- Jesus was condemned to be crucified because of the scheming of the Pharisees and religious leaders.

- Jesus met the woman outside the city.
- Jesus was crucified outside the city.

- The Disciples left Jesus alone at the well.
- Except for John, all the disciples stayed away from the crucifixion.

- While on the cross, Jesus looked down and spoke to a woman, His mother.
- At the well, Jesus sat down and spoke to a woman.

- Jesus met the woman at the six hour.
- Jesus was crucified the six hour.

- Jesus was exhausted from carrying the cross.
- Jesus was exhausted from His journey when He got to the well.

- Jesus requested water from the woman.
- Jesus requested water while on the cross.

- Jesus, referring to Himself, said to the woman: "If thou knewest the gift of God..."
- Speaking of Jesus, the Scriptures says: "For God so loved the world, that he GAVE his only begotten Son..."

- Jesus offered the woman living water.
- When the soldier pierced the spear into Jesus' side, blood and water came out.

- Jacobs well is a symbol of God's faithfulness.
- Jesus coming to die for our sins is the manifestation of God’s faithfulness.

- Jesus saved the woman from her sins.
- Jesus saved the thief on the cross from his sins.

- Jesus speaking of His crucifixion said: "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." [John 12:32]
- After speaking with Jesus, the woman went to call all the men of the city to Jesus.

- At the well, Jesus revealed to a non Jew that He was the Messiah.
- At the cross, a non Jew revealed He was the Messiah, The Son Of God.

- Jesus remained two days in the city.
- After the crucifixion, Jesus remained three days in the tomb.

Jesus tells the woman at the well, the hour is coming which will bring an end to the SACRIFICIAL SYSTEM. He further says, even at that present time, that hour or event, had taken place. That hour is the time of His Sacrifice. At the well, in this symbolical setting, the SACRIFICIAL SYSTEM had come to an end, in the depiction of His ultimate sacrifice.

[John 4:21,23]
[21] Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
[23] But the hour cometh, AND NOW IS, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

These parallels prove the Holy Scriptures contain not events of coincidence, but rather, the records of Divine providence and inspired revelations.
