*HOW TO RECEIVE (PART 2).*
Matthew 10:14 (KJV)..... *And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.*
The Greek word for receive, as used by the Lord Jesus here, is the word "Dechomai,” and it means to accept. The Lord Jesus is letting his disciples know that there is a way to know if a person accepts or receives the gospel. Back then in secondary school, there was a method students displayed if they wanted to show a teacher that they didn’t want him or her. They may start moving their feet, or start banging the tables, or act in a very funny way so you get distracted or angry and you leave.
These are signs of not wanting your lecture. As it is with the physical things, so it is with the spiritual things. Anybody who does not give apt ATTENTION to the gospel has rejected it. Anytime you find a person DISTRACTED or doing something else while you are sharing the gospel with him or her, it means he or she has rejected the gospel.
So, how to receive the gospel is to give full attention, not be distracted while you are listening, and seek to ask questions just so you can understand what you have been taught. For by so doing, you will receive the gospel. Hallelujah.
Prayer:
Loving father, I thank you for revealing to me through your word the way and the how to receive the gospel and I vow not to only put it to work but to let others know this truth. Amen.
